Estate, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths (Sleeps 10 Adults)
Gretchen is a writer, poet and philanthropist. She has lived in the house next door for 40 years. She purchased this property as a guest house for her friends and family. She also owns the two wooded lots on the backside of the property. She is an avid hiker and walks the trails daily. The four lots combined are a rare gem in a major city, and part of the reason you feel like you are in the middle of the woods when in fact you are 10 minutes from downtown.
Gretchen purchased this Estate in 2000

Great stay in Austin
We stayed here for a family reunion and had a great time. The location is great but the property is private and quiet. There are a lot of stairs and a steep driveway so it’s not ideal if you have mobility issues, but otherwise exactly as stated in the listing. The property manager was very responsive and helpful.
Tree in middle of forest
The property was great with all those windows surrounding it. It felt like we were living in a tree house. Loved all the patios all around. It was convenient to everywhere we needed to be for my son's wedding.
Family Reunion in Austin
We had a wonderful, comfortable and attractive, place to stay for our reunion held at a neighboring home.
Comfortable space for group trips
We had a great time staying at the house on the creek. The property is very large and comfortable for large groups. It’s a bit difficult to find even with detailed instructions, so make sure you read the instructions provided.
All in all, we would definitely consider staying here again.
Fantastic Place to Stay
This was an exceptional place to stay. We had a family reunion with a large group and it accommodated us beautifully. There were hiking trails for all of us, a creek and a fort and even a zip line for the kids. The neighborhood was beautiful and very quiet. We had a hard time leaving the house to go sight seeing. What a great place to get away from the noise and traffic of the city. Gretchen and Rana did a great job of hosting. They are close enough if you need them, but honor your privacy. The house was totally ready for us and we found it to be clean, well organized and had everything we needed. We will definitely come again if we find ourselves in the Austin area. Thank you, Gretchen.
House on the creek
We enjoyed staying on the property and the house was perfect to fit our needs. Our children and brother enjoyed walking through the trails and seeing the abundant wildlife. The location provided privacy. The house had everything we needed for our length of stay. Thank you for sharing The House on the Creek with our family.
