Incredibly Generous Hosts
This house has the best porch ever. My favorite thing was to lounge in one of the hammocks or rock in one of the rocking chairs. There was always a comfortable breeze that kept the mosquitoes away. We saw several tucans and I think we were entertainment for the cows. They stared at us chewing their cud from the other side of the fence with the volcano in the background.
The best part of our stay was the guided horse ride through the ranch with Raphael and Elieser. Dilia greeted us with drinks at the end. The green rolling hills and views were incredible. Our kids had such a great time. They were given so much freedom to ride the horses where they liked. We were grateful that on another day Raphael trusted us with his horses to ride on our own. What a treat for the kids!
Costa Rica Ranch Life
We had a fantastic time at the Ranch !!! We have a cattle ranch in Oklahoma so we were quite interested in how they raise cattle (Brahma's) in Costa Rica. It is a bit different than how we do our Angus here so we learned a lot from Raphael. He even let Ken help out with spraying and shots for the cattle.... flies, ticks, etc., told us about the local cattle auction and how it is run.
The ranch house was quite comfortable and we had a nightly protector, a Bulldog named "Tyson". Had a variety of foods at different locales and made a day trip to Playa Flamingo and Tamarindo. Never did make it to the Hot Spring Pools which I understand are fabulous.
If you are looking for authentic Costa Rica ranch living then I highly recommend contacting Raphael for a visit. He and his wife, Dilia, are wonderful hosts and speak English fluently.
Raphael and Dilia….. Thank you again for a wonderful stay !!!

Stay was 3/13 - 3/18/19
You are in Costa Rica. But will feel comfy enough it as if you are in your own home.
Amazing property! Or better yet home away from home!! Raphael and Dilia have provided for everything you need to either stay and relax or wander about and explore. You can explore the ranch and see amazing wildlife, cattle and horses. Not to forget the variety of flora and fauna to discover!! It is also perfectly situated to explore volcano areas, termales and waterfall. We visited a couple great eateries in Guayabo. Though we did eat most of our meals at the ranch. The Lira family that manages the ranch with Raphael and Dilia live near your new home. Very wonderful family. They took very good care of us as guests and now friends. We rode horses with Daniel and Wesley. Watched as they did cattle checks and pasture moves while in horseback. They took us up in jungle to look for monkeys and other amazing critters. The list is long of what we saw. Carolina, Daniel’s wife is warm and caring. Despite our language challenges we were able to communicate and enjoy each other as new friends. Raphael and Dilia are also warm and caring. Can’t wait to go back and stay even longer to get to know the amazing folks here and to spend more time exploring. Also as a farmer myself I would really like to return to help out on the ranch!! We stayed 5 days. It was a good amount of time. But I think longer would be even better!! Definitely stay here!!!
Raphael was extremely welcoming and helpful. He and his family helped provide us with a warm Costa Rica experience. They were great with our kids and took us out on a beautiful horse ride. The ranch is idyllic and our kids enjoyed picking fruit from the trees and exploring the fields. Would definitely recommend.
It was a pleasure spending time with you. You are a wonderful family.
Great ranch experience
Great ranch house, owned by great people. Only a few minutes from town one way and hot springs the other. Volcanic national park is only about 20 minutes away. Horse rides were a surprise bonus! Thanks so much! We will be back.
It was a pleasure having you at the ranch, we really enjoyed the chats and your sense of humor. My email; firstname.lastname@example.org
My husband and three kids loved our stay here. The area is so beautiful and Raphael and his family and employees are the the nicest people. We saw so many animals, the best view of the volcanoes, and enjoyed helping with cattle chores. Great, amazing place.
