Beautiful bunkhouse

My mom, sister and I stayed here wile we attended the Tx Jr High State Rodeo finals in Gonzales. We loved this place. It was decorated so cute and was very roomy and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable too…more than my bed at home. Sarah was a very great host, along with her husband and their very friendly Golden Retriever. I would highly recommend this place and would stay there again if I return to the area.

Replaced-Convenient-Cozy

We wanted a place close to Palmetto State Park and the San Marcos River there. This place fit perfect. Out on a farm with a great family hosting. Kids and I got to simply relax and recharge. The bunkhouse was just as described as well as pictured on site which is always good.

Weekend Getaway

I was very impressed with the property. It was a weekend getaway trip, and this was the perfect location. The pictures do not do justice to the bunkhouse. It was gorgeous and oh so cozy. The hosts were always available, ready to assist. We got to tour the property, loved the chickens and cows. Being out in the country was breathtaking. I definitely would book this bunkhouse. I recommend this property to anyone wanting to take a break from the city.

Relax & enjoy peace & quiet!

We came to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. We also wanted to enjoy some peace & quiet. This place exceeded all our expectations. It was too windy to make a fire outside. But everything else was on point! Very clean, and had all the amenities you could want in a home away from home.

Perfect Farm-cation

This was truly a relaxing place to stay. Everything about the house was warm, peaceful and felt like home. The farm decor was darling, loved all the blankets not only on the beds, but on the couches creating a cozy atmosphere. There were fresh hot towels in the dryer when we arrived. The closet was full of board games; bottled water in the fridge. The kitchen is fully stocked and they even stuff for s’mores, fire starter and wood outside for the fire pit. You can text or call the owners and they will bring you fresh eggs for breakfast (we paid $10 for 30 eggs, they were delicious). They also sell fresh beef you can cook on the grill outside. The outside covered patio is huge with lots of chairs and a table. I sat here drinking my coffee listening to the cows mooo and the horses munch on their hay. Overall our stay was very comfortable and relaxing. My daughter (17) loved it and keeps talking about going back so I’m sure we will stay there again. 🥰

A wonderful socially distant Thanksgiving getaway

Sarah and Charlie were such amazing hosts!! The bunkhouse was clean and spacious with a well-stocked kitchen. We so enjoyed drinking our coffee outside on the patio while gazing out over the farm at the horses and cows. We had a few minor issues (we forgot eggs and the WiFi was misbehaving) that Sarah and Charlie rushed over to remedy for us. We ate our thanksgiving dinner outside next to the fire (which Sarah and Charlie so graciously offered to start for us) which was magical. Sarah offered to give us a tour of the chicken houses but unfortunately we did not have time to do. They sell wagyu beef, farm fresh eggs and local honey (they sent us home with double yolk eggs—who knew those existed?) so make sure to pick some up while you’re there! One thing to keep in mind is that there are no grocery stores nearby so make sure to bring any food provisions with you. There is a dollar store nearby, just in case. My partner said that there she had a wonderful time on her long run and that this is a great spot for running. Overall, my partner and I had a wonderful stay at Sarah and Charlie’s charming Texas bunkhouse. We will definitely be back!!

Unique farm/ranch get-away

This is a great little property for a get-away! It’s very cute & comfortable! This was home base for 3 days for a little quilting adventure. We only made it to five quilt stores and there were more within an hour away! It is very clean & an easy place to be! We hope to visit again soon!

About the host

Hosted by Sarah Nunes

Host profile image
Providence Farm was established in 1994…
when Charles and Sarah Nunes sold their computer business in Houston, Tx. and moved to “the country” as a contractor with Tyson Foods, producing fertile eggs for the chicken meat industry. “The country” is south central Texas in northern Gonzales County.

Providence Farm is also a cow/calf operation producing quality replacement heifers and bulls for others in the cattle business. Our mother cows are a mix of Angus and Black Hereford cows yielding lean and tender superior beef for the consumer.

In 2020, Providence Farm branched out to produce “pasture-raised, grass fed, grass finished, no antibiotics, no hormones” quality beef for sale direct to the consumer. Our beef program calls for feeding grass that is grown and organically fertilized on our farm hay pastures.

Also in 2020, Providence Farm further upgraded the quality of beef by purchasing an Akaushi bull to breed to the Angus/Black Hereford cows. The progeny of this breeding will sire the world-famous Akaushi Wagyu mixed calves (grass fed, grass finished) which produce exceptional marbling, world class tenderness, superb flavorful taste along with healthier beef.

In 2020 Charles and Sarah entered the hospitality business by converting a barn into a fully equipped bed & breakfast. The Providence Farm Bunkhouse Country Retreat! This is a perfect place for quiet solitude or family gatherings. The kids love the cows, horses and chickens. And there is great bass and catfish fishing in the pond! Fun for everyone. Bring your own horses to ride the country roads.

Why they chose this property

Cozy and quiet country comfort describes this fun and unique facility. Fully furnished bunkhouse apartment with fully furnished kitchen (no dishwasher), full bath with large shower and laundry facilities. One bedroom with queen bed and one twin bed. The living area has two twin beds. 3 air mattresses and 1 cot are available for extra folks or children.

Perfect for a quiet writers retreat, Christian retreat or sabbatical, business or church leadership retreat, family fun weekend away from the big city, family vacation, ‘girls’ weekend retreat, quilters or scrapbookers retreat!

Ride your bicycle or your horse on quiet country roads. The kids can fish for catfish or bass from the stock tank. Relax in the cooling tub on hot summer days or stay warm on cool nights with the fire in the fire pit. See the stars at night and see the satellites in the night sky! This is “down home” country living at its best.

The outdoor pavilion has a Traeger grill for your cooking pleasure. A large fire pit is also available.

If inclement weather arrives, the large covered porch will keep you dry and you can still enjoy the outdoors.

Don’t miss your workouts! The Exercise room with treadmill, New Step, Total Gym, and stationary bike, are available on site, on request.
