Feeling energetic? The famous “1000 Steps” and the Dandenong Ranges National Park is just meters from our door, it is a challenging walk of about 7-8km depending on which track you choose. You can download detailed maps from the Parks Victoria website. Animals and birds you can expect to see are Lyrebirds, Wallabies, possums, tawny frogmouth owls, rosella's, silver crested cockatoos, black cockatoos, kookaburras, land crayfish, echindnas, wombats and perhaps deer while exploring. At nighttime many possums roam the area. Within the area there are many gardens to explore within a short drive. My favourites are Sherbrook Falls, George Tindall Gardens, Alfred Nicholls Gardens, William Ricketts Sanctuary, Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens, Cloudhill Gardens and Nursery, Blue Lotus Water Gardens, Warrantina Lavender Farm and in around 35 minutes you can be in the Yarra Valley wine region.
There are many quality restaurants, cafes and takaway options within a very short drive. Please ask us to send you a detailed PDF to your email with our recommendations.
