Summary:
Let your inner child shine in this delightful octagonal home complete with a spiral staircase! Just minutes to Fort Jackson, restaurants, shops, and Sesquicentennial State Park, our four bedroom, 2 3/4 bath home is the perfect place to spend time with family and friends, whether you're visiting someone on base, spending time in the great outdoors at Sesqui, or enjoying all there is to do in Columbia.

The Space:
Guests can enjoy their morning coffee out on the expansive wrap around upper porch, and spend their evenings grilling out under the covered downstairs patio. This wooded lot provides expansive greenery in the spring, plentiful shade through those hot summer days, and a kaleidoscope of color in the fall!
As you drive up to our blue, octagonal-shaped home with a white wrap around wooden porch/deck on the upper level, you will park in the private driveway, then climb two flights of stairs (landing in between) to reach the main entrance of the home. There you will enter a code into the digital keypad. Once inside the main living area, we have a sofa bed and futon in the seating area and 50" Smart Roku TV. Past the living room is the kitchen with seating for four at the bar. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare meals at home. There are pots, pans, flatware, dishes, mixing bowls, blender, toaster, oven, microwave, oven, stove, and dishwasher. Off the kitchen area is a washer and dryer. The master bedroom has a king bed and full ensuite bathroom. There is a second full bathroom and a queen bed on the second level as well. Descending the spiral stairway in the living room will lead to a second living area with a futon and sleeper sofa, and dining room. The ground floor has a bedroom with a twin, a second bedroom with a twin and a full, and a 3/4 Jack and Jill bathroom between. There is an additional living space on this floor with another sofa bed and futon!

Guest Access:
Guests have access to a private driveway for parking, and the home is not shared with any guests or residents. Main access to the home is on the second level using the digital keypad, with a back up lockbox on the ground level. Code for the keypad will be provided upon check-in.

The Neighborhood:
We are located in a residential neighborhood with mature trees and lots of privacy. Just minutes from Fort Jackson, food, shopping and grocery. What more could you ask for

All pets require a non-refundable pet fee. Not as advertised
There is a need for maintenance on this property. The bathroom downstairs had a toilet that you had to physically fill tank with water in order to flush. The main upstairs bathroom shower had broken knobs and the door stuck and would take 2 people to open if closed all the way. There were dead bug carcasses in every room. Sheets had stains on them. We couldn't find a dust pan until the last day, it was shoved under one of the downstairs beds. The couch in the upstairs living room smelled so bad we avoided sitting on it, as well as the 2 futons in the main room downstairs. It is very dangerous walking from driveway into house as there is no lighting, until you turn on inside, so you trip over rocks until you get to stairs. Only redeeming factor was it was close to Fort Jackson. Could be a great place if maintenance done and it was cleaned.

A pleasant stay
We stayed at this property to come and see our son graduate basic training. It was a pleasant stay. Had some minor issues that they worked with us quickly on. Overall a good stay.

Plenty of Room
We were 6 adults a 2 year old and a 2 month old. This house afforded us a lot of room to sleep comfortably. The house was very clean. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. It was a good location for us. When I made the reservation, months ago, I had asked if there was a PacnPlay available. I was told that there was. A week or two before our stay, I contacted Patriot Homes and was told that they did not have a Pac n Play. This resulted in us having to secure one. Upon our arrival, I found one in the closet of the master bedroom. Someone had not done their due diligence. We hosted a small dinner for our graduate and utilized the wrap around balcony. My husband found that some of the railings were loose which was a concern because of the 3 year old. We were able to use rope to tie around those rails, that were secure, to keep her from fallen through. The deck really needs work. Lots of rotted wood. The steps leading up to the house have some very loose steps. They are very loose! We did three loads of wash while we were there and upon trying to dry the 3rd load, there was an EXTREMELY load noise. It sounded like metal upon metal. The person to whom we spoke was willing to come out right away but since we had been able to dry the clothes by hanging them around the house, we told him it was not necessary to come right away. So all in all, the accommodations were fine. I did need to buy a knife sharpener and some washable cutting boards. I left some mixing bowls too.

Motel room vibe
First off, nothing about the listing description of the property is inaccurate, but I do believe the reviews are way too generous for the condition of this home. We rely heavily on reviews to decide on our vacation properties. If I'd have known what I know now I would never have picked this house. Hoping the next traveller can make a better-informed decision. I'll start with the cons: **the MB bed frame squeaks quite a lot. I couldn't roll over without waking my husband. The mattress also slants to the middle. **the bedding and towels are all very low quality. The sheets are thin and worn. **the pillows on all beds are very cheap, thin, VERY uncomfortable **the main sofa in the living room is dirty and slants to the middle **the floors are very dirty **the kitchen garbage disposal doesn't work, which we didn't find out until we'd deposited food in it **all of the curtains in all rooms are too small for the windows so don't provide adequate privacy **most of the windows upstairs and downstairs were unlocked when we arrived (safety hazard) **the furnishings and decor are motel-quality Pros: **the immediate neighborhood feels safe and friendly (had neighbor approach us and offer assistance with anything we may need) **proximity to Ft. Jackson is great **responsiveness from mgmt was very good **plenty of room for large groups to spread out We wouldn't rent again but could work for a family that has a big group and doesn't mind the details above.
