I am a Taranaki native and love this out-of-the-way part of our beautiful country. The arts are superbly represented here which I am so stimulated by as a designer and dancer. There are also such great food choices everywhere! I remember when the coffee was only instant and the beer was Taranaki Bitter. Now our little city leads the world with coffee roasting expertise and our great love of craft beers! Great for when you need the perfect caffeine injection or something colder. Apart from great food options I just love being able to trek the Maunga Taranaki, our mountain that calls us to settle here; to be surrounded by lush countryside or swim in the wild ocean and wander long stretches of black sand beaches. The world hasn't discovered it just yet and I like it that way.

Why Davina chose Waitara

I have such a peaceful feeling of calm and relaxation when I walk onto this place. What is most wonderful for me is that homely feeling giving the impression that you are miles from anywhere. Then there are the amazing gardens. These were developed by the two previous owners into a fruit tree forest which attracts such a heavenly bird-song that it gave birth to it's name: Manukorihi - a chorus of birds.

What makes this House unique

One of my favourite places to hang out is first thing in the morning in the conservatory where the sun floods in and I can plan my day, read and drink coffee before the rest of the household wakes up. In the warmer weather, the little pond and zen garden is also a quiet space to escape to.
