Fabulous villa in perfect location
House has absolutely everything you need, including all the essentials, eg salt, oil, spices, sugar, loo paper, dishwasher tabs, etc. Full sets of towels with a separate set of swimming towels. The inside living area is lovely with two sofas and a large dining table, dozens of fiction/non fiction books, games, pens, cards and lovely interesting little touches like lamps, pictures, books, art and ceremics . Bedrooms are lovely and lead straight out to the decking.
The pictures of the outside terrace don’t do the house justice. The terrace is amazing and there are really good quality loungers everywhere, plus two sets of outside sofas, all with cushions. There are areas of shade and sun all day. There is an outside covered built in BBQ area with sink, etc, and another dining table that isn’t shown in the pictures.
The pool is wonderful, and is kept looking that way by the pool man who apparently comes about 5 in the morning. The pool was crystal clear and topped up the entire time we were there.
We visited Nice (super busy) and Frejus (super busy) and Cassis (super busy). We learnt that the best way to visit these places in season is to arrive by about 8.30am. Our favourite places were lac du saint croix and the many parts of the river north of the house where we found wonderful places to swim and kayake with only us there. Best of all, the river in the village was wonderful and had really deep areas to swim and even dive, along with shallow areas to sit and relax. . Entrecasteaux is a lovely town with 3 separate restaurants to eat in, two of which overlook the main square where there was music being played several nights.
We walked down to the village a couple of times, past a wonderful little church. The walk was 10 minutes down a rocky path, and 15 minutes a bit of puffing back up, but easily doable. There is a bread shop, plus a couple of other shops in the village. If you like a bargain, there’s a Lidl up the road in Salernes, super cheap food!!
Martin was great during the booking process and answered all my many qestions and whilst we had no problems at all during our stay, Ruth and/or Catriona were available in case we did, and Ruth checked in with us via email from time to time to check all was well.
This was our 12th year of renting a villa in France, and this was one of our best yet. Thanks Martin!
charming villa with a very good price/quality ratio in a relax and lovely area
We had a very nice holiday in your cozy clean villa!!It was great to sit at the pool and certainly for the children, who were not to keep away from it!Only regrets that they made the pool clean again the day we left and that was only after 13 days!We found it very nice that all rooms had access to the pool, where we stayed the most time,we found the hous perfectly organized and everything was available. The only thing we missed was a Senseo device(maybe something typical for Belgians!?)There was also enough storage space, only regrets that it was now used for the storage of fresh towels and sheets,so i had to move them a little bit to make room for our own stuff! The morning walk to the baker in Entrecasteaux is definitely recommended, but just a little labor! We already knew the area and are also in love with this region, the only regrets for us was that we have underestimated the trip to Cotignac(where we have been several times already)further and longer than we thought!Thank you we were allowed to stay in your beautiful villa and who knows, maybe we'll go back later!
Thank you so much for your interesting and comprehensive review of my holiday home in Entrecasteaux. I am puzzled to read that the pool was only cleaned once during your stay and will contact my pool manager to see what went wrong. The pool in contracted to be cleaned every week and he is usually very efficient. My apologies for this and I will let you know what he has to say. Perhaps you would tell me what a Senseo device is, as I have never heard of it. I am glad you enjoyed your holiday and if you decide to return next year we will be delighted to welcome you. May I wish you and your family the best of good health for the coming year.
Locate on the edge of a lovely village with a few bars and restaurants. It's in a quiet spot.
Nice large sized house, parking area and pool.
Main bedroom and bathroom large and spacious. Kitchen well equipped. Plenty of comfortable outdoor seating.
Would recommend to friends.
However, it would have been good to have a couple of nice chairs on the main bedroom balcony. Also quite a few broken floor tiles around the pool area so you just have to take care where you walk.
We spent a lovely 5 nights at this villa near Entrecasteaux. So grateful for the lovely, cool swimming pool and lots of opportunities for shade on the veranda. We liked the layout of the house and everyone had plenty of space to hang out.
The house is wonderful! The various bedrooms are lovely and waking up to a view out to the pool and sun is fabulous! The pool is amazing and on hot days it is just what you need. Being situated away from the main roads it is very peaceful, but it is only a short walk down a lovely back route to the village of Entrecasteux where there are great restaurants and the atmosphere is very enjoyable! The house itself is equipped with everything you would need, the BBQ is wonderful and many evenings were spent having late night meals under the amazing stars. Having been to the villa 3 or 4 times I can definitely say that it is as astounding as ever and I cannot wait to go back again. The pool is luxurious when the weather becomes too much but it is always sunny and when it gets too hot, the house is always cool and refreshing! The geckos around the area are fascinating to watch! I cannot wait to go back and would strongly recommend staying in this family villa and relaxing!
Beautiful home in Idyllic location
This is a lovely villa in an idyllic location. Fabulous pool (kept in sparkling condition by weekly visits from pool man Andree) and huge terrace with comfortable and stylish cane furniture. Perfect to while away the lovely days in the sun - lots of shade too.
The 'home from home' house was very clean and well appointed - looked after by Ruth, locally - who was on hand to explain the workings of the house.
This was the most peaceful and relaxing holiday we have ever had.
Can really recommend this property - great value too. We will be going back for sure.
Lots to do in surrounding areas - there was a good listing of markets, restaurants and things to do, at the house which was really useful.
Entrecasteaux is located 25km north-east of Brignoles.
Built on a rocky elevation it is one of the prettiest villages in the region and has kept its original charm that goes back to the XI century. The Chateau in the centre of the village was built in the XVI C on the ruins of an XI C fort and boasts a garden designed by Le Notre (who set out the gardens of Versailles). The old paved streets, lined with tall and narrow village houses, complete the picture of an unspoilt medieval village
