Shaffner House: Wachovia Room

The Wachovia room is a romantic haven featuring beautiful and traditional English elegance. This spacious suite is located on the second floor and features a luxurious and comfortable four-poster king-size bed. There is a chaise lounge and wingback chair for lounging, which match the stunning blue fireplace (non-operational) with original tile and cover from the early 1900s. A special feature of the Wachovia is a separate dressing and seating area with vanity, perfect for getting ready for dinner on the town or a quiet night in. A Victorian-inspired en-suite bath provides a relaxing claw-foot soaking tub and a separate step-in shower. This room can become a two-room suite when joined with the Reynolda room, if you are traveling with family or friends.

Built in 1907 as the private residence of Henry Fries Shaffner, the co-founder of Wachovia Loan and Trust, this extravagant Victorian-style mansion boasts Tiger oak hand-carved paneling, original coal-burning fireplaces, a grand staircase and priceless antiques. This 8-bedroom bed and breakfast is perfect for quiet nights away or corporate and private events. Located in downtown Winston-Salem, it is walking-distance to a multitude of the city's best restaurants, bars and shops.

The Shaffner has retained historic charm while expanding to include modern amenities such as free WiFi, 43" smart, flat-screen TVs, alarm/clock and USB charging stations.
