About this property

Suite with sitting area and ensuite bath with Clawfoot tub

The linens represent contemporary comfort; high thread count sheets, luxurious towels and complimentary toiletries.

Come stay with us and share your thoughts about how we should adorn the walls, shelves and table tops. We’re new, growing and want to make your travel experience wonderful!
Experience the charm of one of the last antebellum homes in Baton Rouge.  Located in the oldest neighborhood in the city and near the Capitol, Government Park, downtown, LSU and the Mississippi River, Cottages at Capitol Park is the only full service Bed & Breakfast downtown.  Lodging includes private baths, private refrigerator, free hot breakfast cooked to order, cable and streaming services on 50" televisions, free WiFi and cordless charging stations.  Complimentary snacks, coffees, sodas, toiletries and other amenities will make you feel more special than family.  Parking, close to state government buildings, is free!

Luxury without pretense... well, we do keep fresh flowers and candy around.

Here you will find quality mattresses, researched and selected from the highest ratings on Amazon. High thread count cotton sheets surround you for a silky feeling, minus the slippery or sticky feel from synthetics. Hypoallergenic mattress pads and pillow covers ensure your safety and comfort as you sleep. All rooms have period antiques, with timeless, classic designs that are easy on the eye and contribute to the room’s relaxed feeling.

Modern touches keep you connected. Our rooms have ample electrical outlets and desk space for work and gaming. Large 50" televisions, connected to free cable and streaming your choice of Roku or Fire TV Stick, are here to entertain and inform. The dining area has a shared microwave, ice machine, a fully-stocked coffee/tea maker, a refrigerator packed with cold beverages, assorted snacks, disposable dining utensils and plates. We serve a full, freshly cooked breakfast, delivered on time.

Louisiana government rates, and plus one pricing, are available when booking by phone.

All guests receive full concierge service; please make your requests known.

Please note: due to our historical location and inclusion on the National Registry of Historic Places, our home is not ADA compliant.

What Nicole and I share is a passion for hospitality and treating others very well. We travel and enjoy the option of things like a home-cooked meal; a resource to describe restaurants, venues, activities and events through local eyes; and a place to meet other visitors to share stories of the days adventures. We also like to be close to activities. In turn, we offer you these services and amenities as our guest.

Nicole, a Louisiana native and former New Orleans tour guide, has the details on history, pop culture, cars, food and shopping. Once you get her started, you may be lucky enough to experience home-style Cajun cooking from her Opelousas family recipes. Less commercialized than the restaurant versions of cooking from Prudhomme, Lagasse and Folse, but every bit as "plate-cleaning" good.

I prefer to chat about global politics, economics and business. Let’s share ideas from self help books, biographies and the pages of major U S newspapers. And, as a former Marine, I can probably share a tip on how to clean just about anything.

Together, we promise our commitment to providing world class service with a down home touch.

Welcome to our home.
