Blissful, serene getaway
Our family loved our 4 day getaway to this idyllic part of NSW. Helen and Hamish were lovely hosts and we so enjoyed the gorgeous green hills dotted with grazing cows, bustling chooks strutting round the yard and feeding atlas, the young calf as well as the horses. We did some beautiful hikes in the area - Diamond Head loop is phenomenal and just shed the city for a few days. Bliss!

Beautiful relaxing farm stay for all the family
Helen and Hamish were amazing host, we had comfortable beds to sleepin, clean house, with bathroom toiletries, everything you need in the kitchen. I have a baby and teenagers and they all had a great time. They got to explore the property, met the farm animals and swim in the pool. The dogs are extra friendly and so well behaved... we are all keen to come back for another stay.. all the extra touches to our stay made it comfortable and memorable..

Farmstay with pool
Our family of 4 had a wonderful 2 nights here. We loved the chickens in the yard, feeding the horses, watching the cows, and especially the wonderful dogs. We were unlucky with the weather but the pool looked inviting. The accommodation is made private from the main house by pretty gardens. Helen & Hamish were friendly and generous hosts. We would love to return.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi,
We are Hamish and Helen. We are ex Sydney folk and have realised a long held dream to move to the country.
We came to stunning Hannam Vale in 2020 with our three kids, dogs, cats, horses and endless dreams for our future. We got very lucky finding our piece of paradise in this incredible and largely undisturbed part of Australia. We have studied and embraced a regenerative agriculture approach to farming, and hope to improve this land we have access to with everything that we do.
From our early twenties we adored visiting B&B's and farm stays. We are delighted to now be able to offer this experience to guests. We can make your stay at the Bales contact free, or offer you more of a connection with tours, locally sourced breakfast hampers, or farm stay photo shoots. It's up to you.

Why they chose this property

Hannam Vale is a stunning dairy valley only 10 - 15 minutes off the A1, and perfectly positioned between Port Macquarie and Taree. Possibly accessing the best of everything with incredible beaches and lagoons only thirty minutes drive. With easy access to Waitui falls and swimming hole, stunning drives up to the historic Comboyne village and some of the stunning drives https://www.visitcomboyne.com/scenic-driving-trails, Ellenborough falls, fabulous country towns like Wingham and Wauchope. Bring your Mountain Bikes for incredible access to state forest trails. Float your Horse up for all the bush tracks, and beach rides. Gorgeous walks through town or into forest. Go surfing at numerous local beaches. In season visit the local Blueberry farm, or several local wineries.

The Dairy Bales are a very clean and comfortable three bedroom home with kitchen and bathroom. The Bales are far enough away from the main home to have peace and privacy. The bales have their own entrance, off street parking, and are fully fenced.

The Bales are located on farm, giving you the chance for a real farm experience and get away.

The organic vegetable garden behind the Bales is accessible for you to visit and pick what you'd like.

What makes this property unique

For a more immersive farm experience, book in a farm tour for $100 for an hour and learn about what we do at Old Fig Farm including making our popular Lime and Lemon Myrtle cordial, picking limes, visit our beef cattle, visit the chickens, visit our horses and perhaps have a chat about our Equicentral system, and learn a little more about holistic management and regenerative agriculture as you go.
Helen has run a successful photography business for over a decade. Perhaps make the most of this and have an on farm photo shoot for $250. The images will be professionally edited and emailed to you to keep.
Book in a breakfast hamper which includes;
- Locally made sourdough
- Old Fig Farm pastured eggs
- Local organic Nitrate free heritage bacon
- Locally made muesli
- Home made Lime marmalade.
- Local butter.
- Local jam.
- Feel free to add to this with anything you can harvest from the veggie patch.
- A bottle of our farm's Lime and Lemon Myrtle cordial for you to keep
($80 caters approximately for a family of 5 for two breakfasts)
