About this property

Lakeside Tiny Home w/deck, 15 steps from water!

We live on a private lane on a private lake in Ontario, 45 minutes from Toronto. Our Tiny Home sits 15 steps from the lake.

Before you get to the water, you find a stone terrace tucked away down from the lane. There you can enjoy your morning coffee looking out on the water, or have an afternoon of sunbathing. For fun, climb in the paddle boat and cruise the shoreline.
Forest bathing, mini-golf, golf, two wineries, zip-lining, and horse riding are all within 15 minutes.
Up the road, a park leads onto 133 acres of prime Ontario land: make the hike past old-growth forest and lush fields.
A quiet retreat to reflect? A place to deepen your meditation?A remote work spot? A place to launch yourself into city adventure? Time to write/read? Take your pick and come enjoy.

For lunch or dinner consider lakeside dining a 15-minute walk to Fishbone By the Lake. Or choose among the many fine restaurants in Stouffville. Delivery is also an option.
Or stay to bbq, use the toaster oven, or simply heat up the hot plate for a quick meal. The views from the windows in the Tiny Home refresh your eyes, mind, and heart.

In the evening rest by the water, sit on the dock or the terrace and wait for nature's ever-changing art palette to delight your eyes. Wait for the otters, great blue heron, osprey, ducks and geese to come by.

When you are tired, pull the blackout blinds down, lie on your new mattress and enjoy the breeze from the back hill. Get a great sleep to wake refreshed and ready for another sweet day.

Very nice and helpful host. Quickly handled any problems we had. A very good time. Loved the forests for hiking and found some good little local restaurants. The Tiny House was just perfect for us.

Great Little Spot!
We really enjoyed our time at the Tiny House! It’s a wonderful location with a great sunset view and lots of fun places nearby to explore. We enjoyed great restaurants and shopping as well as hanging out dockside with a book! And Charlene and her partner are so wonderful! Very attentive and generous without hovering. Thank you so much!

Adorable Tiny Home and Fantastic outdoor space!
My wife and I were looking for a weekend away, without the kids, so we could relax, unplug and unwind. I am happy to say that we accomplished all that and more, such as 2 long paddle boat rides out on the lake. The Tiny Home is so cute and quaint and has everything you need. The patio area by the water is amazing, the dock is huge and it is solid so it works great as a big dance floor. We hope to return again!

Lovely Stay
Was very clean and charming. Host was amazing. Very kind and available. They had a nice surprise when we got there. Only thing negative I have to say is pictures made it look like the back yard was right on the water but there’s a private road you have to cross. Saying that it was still very tranquil and peaceful so it was still great. Thank you.

This property was my cottage when I was growing up. After traveling the globe and living in various cities, countries, I returned to stay and renovate this beautiful place. I have an irrational passion for this small lake and all its inhabitants: great blue heron, wild trumpeter swans, otters, muskrats, the list goes on. My greatest wish is to share this place as a refuge (Haven), a place to create, regenerate, relax and enjoy what nature offers.
Or, after an exciting day in Toronto, Markham, Newmarket or any of the great cities nearby return to sit by the lake and watch the beautiful sunset.
Doctors now prescribe Nature walks as a way to lower blood pressure. Time in our lush York Region Forests, a few minutes away, enhances your sense of life's power to heal, regenerate, restore us to a calm sense of enjoyment.
I work with people, through Night Dreams, Havening, meditation, and other modalities experienced and nuanced in my 55 years of searching for how we might enjoy more and stress less. This property, views of our lake, sound of the wind, wild life sightings, helps support an exploration into what makes for an enriched, vibrant life experience. Add to these sensory openings an opportunity to sit by the lake watching sunsets, sunrises, paddle boating, forest bathing, biking, hiking, horseback riding, zip lining, Upla netting, all within 15 minutes of your reservation. You'll see why this quiet lane only 45 mins from Toronto offers the best quick and quiet escape to restore, regenerate and refresh your zest for life.

Why they chose this property

My parents bought this property in 1965, when any mile past Steeles Ave was identifiable as country. In those days, the smell of the air changed, dropped to damp, musky outdoor scents as we drove on Friday nights. I returned from traveling and living in other countries in the late 1980's and bought the then cottage. Slowly over the years it has morphed into the full-time home I love. And most recently in 2022 my partner and I built the Tiny Home, nestled next to our own building. Guests often comment how despite the closeness, they feel completely private. It is our privilege to be here to help, and otherwise let you enjoy at your own pace, in your way.
Our neighbourhood is quiet and restful most of the time, at least, when the annual fireworks from Cedar Beach are not on display! We enjoy these evenings, as the bright sparkles show in the sky and in the water.
We are close to Toronto, Newmarket, and Markham so city life is nearby ready for you to explore. Don't miss Uxbridge with its lively, quaint main street only 20 mins away.
I love just looking at the lake, enjoying sunset, sunrise or just about anytime by the water of this lake the only private one in Ontario.
To reach our terrace walk across the private lane we share with only seven other homes and families, and down the wide stone steps. There rugged armour stone and tiled terrace lies snug against the hill offering the feeling of complete privacy.
York Region Forests are 10 mins up Highway 48. Walk in these lush, old growth forests and take advantage of what doctors are now prescribing: nature walks for health.
Stouffville, 7 km away, offers zip-lining, mini golf, regular golf, wineries, horse riding. Right across the lake is Fishbone by the Lake, an outdoor restaurant so popular you have to reserve in advance. Explore local dining or order Uber eats. Choice is yours. I would love to welcome you to our peaceful home near city...hope to see you soon.

What makes this property unique

Musselman's Lake is the only private lake in Ontario and only seven houses dot this private lane, called Rest Nook. We are right on the water and so have the responsibilities and joys that come with shoreline living.
The Tiny Home sits snug beside our home but guests often comment on how private they feel. My partner, Harold and I make efforts to be available in case, but out of sight or mind otherwise. We too enjoy our privacy!
Because I love this property so much I have wanted to share it with others who may need time away from a busy life, or a different work place to enjoy a change, a writing retreat or meditation retreat: guests have used the Tiny Home for these purposes and many more.
It's our pleasure to host and provide a different experience from the day to day. With all the nearby amenities from York Region Forests 10 mins away to zip-lining and all Stouffville has to offer, with our proximity to Toronto so guests from afar can and have used our place as a launch point, and a safe, quiet return point after adventuring in the big city, we're sure you'll find our Tiny Home a welcome part of your travels.
