No hot water, no heat
January in Boston is cold. Colder when the VRBO you rent has no hot water and no heat.
Checked in, in the middle of the night. The next morning, everything seemed fine, but that day lost wot water and heat. Reached out to the owner who isn't in Boston and told me it was "past operating hours." Spent the night in the cold.
They sent someone the next day at 11am, but didn't fix it. I left the apartment that afternoon and still hadn't been fixed. When I came back that night it had been fixed. Checked out at 4am the next morning.
There is a LOUD restaurant in the basement. The owner offers ear plug and a sound machine on their app page. But there were no ear plugs or instructions for the machine. When I commented on the noise, the owner offered no help.
The owner had offered a small refund, $100, which (if I had asked for even a pro-rated offer) seemed insulting. I had at least a quarter of my trip without the basics of heat and hot water. I asked to speak with a manager, but was denied. Never got a phone call, just texts. Asked VRBO for help, but they offered none.
I will be filing with the BBB and contacting my credit card company.
