Summary:
Escape the mundane routines of the city and unwind at Arariri River Rest! The ultimate tiny house NZ getaway located on a 17-acre small holding with the L2 river running along two boundaries, ideal for trout, whitebait, and eel fishing. Along with abundant birdlife such as pheasants, plovers, quips, ducks, and white swans on-site to keep you company. We also farm beef on a small scale, so there are steers and a few chickens.
The Space:
Arariri River Rest is located in a small rural town in Springston, Canterbury. SItuated on a small paddock facing the river, next to a large weeping willow, just 22 minutes away from the nearest Christchurch accommodation. Nearby Port Hills, Christchurch Adventure Park, Hagley Park North, and Halswell Quarry are just a few of the attractions in the area.
A cozy 139 square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. The bathroom, however, follows ecologically sustainable principles, including an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers) for your use.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please advise that we are working farm that cares for farm animals and crops. If your looking for a quiet getaway, there will be some animal and agricultural noise during your stay with us.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surroundings, except for the farm animal paddocks and shed areas. If you wish to explore the farm, please inform your land to make arrangements.

- Port Hills in Christchurch is a beautiful range of hills in Canterbury that are ideal for bushwalking, running, and mountain biking trails of all skill levels.
- Christchurch Adventure Park is a popular bike trail ranging from beginners to advanced riders, with on-site coaches to help you get the best experience.
- Hagley Park North is Christchurch's largest urban open space and is adjacent to the botanic gardens. It's perfect for leisure strolls, bike rides, and other activities.

- Fiddlesticks Restaurant and Bar has a stylish atmosphere and an extensive drinks menu, including beer, wine, and spirits.
- Afghan Restaurant serves authentic Afghan food, praised by locals as "heaven on a plate" and popular for Chicken and Lamb Meal, Curry Chicken, and Lamb Kebab.

By car:
- 8.9 km drive to and from Lincoln
- 30.9 km drive to and from Christchurch
By public transport: There are buses from Lincoln and intercity buses from Christchurch.
Other Things to Note:
- Quiet hours is 10pm- 6am
- Mobile reception in the area is weak
- No smoking allowed on the property
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- We have a cat and cows in paddocks on the property
- Complimentary Wi-Fi available at the main house; approach the host for details.
- Please do not enter the farm shed or yards without the land host's permission
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge.
Guest Advisory
- Children are not allowed inside the farm sheds or animal paddocks to avoid accidents that may cause harm.
- Guests are advise to follow the safety rules discussed and need pior arrangement with host to participate in the farm.
- We advise guests to exercise caution as the property is a farm hazard that may be a danger to them, especially children.
- We would also like to remind guests that our tiny house follows ecologically sustainable principles, including a cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank.
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property.
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- For stays of 5 nights or more (or for bookings of 5 nights or more), an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
