*Older farm homes such as The Shepherd's Cottage do come with quirks, sticky windows and the occasional creaky floorboard, please enjoy the charm, the vibe, the wabisabi.

*digital detox, there is a TV but please note as we are on rural satellite NBN streaming is sketchy, but free to air is fine. We have a good library of DVDs for some old school fun. We do have WiFi, and a desk should you need to do some work. We also have an ever expanding library of board games, now stored in the main house, plus yard games and of course, the pool.

KIDS
Whilst we are family friendly we haven't "child-proofed" the cottage, so please be aware that this little old cottage will have lots of corners and edges and things that might trip up a toddler used to a more modern home. Please take care, especially, around the fireplace and on the farm in general.

PETS
We have pets on the farm, and the cottage isn't fenced off so the animals could wander over. Our dogs are very friendly, although still protective of their farm and family, and the cats generally don't go near guests, they are pretty shy. If you are scared of animals then sadly this might not be the listing for you.

Bringing a pet? Please add your pet to the guest list and advise us. Please be aware that on the farm we have livestock, and there are plenty of wild animals here: birds, hares, possums, foxes and kangaroos, some doggos might find it sensory overload.

Country get away.
The hosts were amazing and the property was 5 star. To be able to take our 2 dogs was just amazing for us as it's very hard to find excellent accommodation for us and our pets. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a nice quiet place just off the freeway.

Sanctuary among the cows
While they say "Do not look for a sanctuary in anyone except yourself", this may be the next best thing. A perfect spot to retreat from the daily grind and re-establish one's equanimity. Highly recommend the fire pit!

Relaxing getaway in picturesque farm setting
Spotless and well appointed property in a tranquil farm setting. Close enough to towns but far enough away to feel like a proper escape.

Peaceful && Gorgeous
If you're after some quiet down time in your own little bubble this is the place to be. Ok yes admittedly freezing. But expected in the middle of winter. Underfloor heating in front of house and combustion heater in middle of house. This was stunning and leaving to come back to reality was hard. Plenty of information provided about places to eat close by. Will definitely be returning.

We love sharing our farm with guests, both local and interstate, and sharing our passion for food and wine. I am also a photographer to I'll chat about that too!

Why they chose this property

We moved from the city to the country and 10 years ago and have become strong advocates for country living, local food, and of course, amazing wines. We love living amongst the creative artisans who grow and make our foods, as well as the various small owners who work in this amazing region. We feel so blessed to be the current caretakers of this grand old home, and we've invested a lot into this farm and we love to share it with others.

What makes this property unique

Our home is one of the original "summer homes", built by wealthy city families as a place to escape to in summer and hold lavish events. We bought the property in a state of disrepair and have spent many years bringing it back to life, and love to be able to share that with you. The Adelaide Hills is our fave wine region in Australia, and we believe it's the premiere food and wine region of this country. Located just 30mins from the city of Adelaide, you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a quiet country getaway where you can recharge, but you're still an easy drive into town. For interstate guests, you'll find the Barossa and McLaren Vale regions are just a 1-hour drive away, so you can do day trips to those regions as well. We have plenty of amazing foodie venues too, most guests leave saying they wish they could stay another day.
