Superb location; wonderful apartment with some drawbacks
Location is unbeatable. Walking distance to the most popular sites in Old Québec. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.
Apartment is functional and attractive. Bedroom is clean and bright. Comfortable bed, big TV, good storage, blackout shades.
Living room has wardrobe, futon, stove/oven, refrigerator/freezer, small dishwasher. Can get a bit dark on rainy days. Table seats three, not four. We cooked several meals and found everything we needed.
Bathroom is small but functional and clean.
Washer and dryer (downstairs) are included in the price.
The owner communicates well via text.
Be aware:
The street (Rue Garneau) is run-down but not sketchy.
Our daughters (20 & 16) were cramped sleeping on the futon. Probably fine for smaller children.
Apartment sometimes smelled of second-hand smoke. Nothing the owner can do about this, but worth noting. We finally decided the smoke was coming in through the bathroom, so we closed the bathroom door and turned on the fan.
The windows don’t seem to open.
Shampoo was supplied, but soap was not, and the hand soap was empty.
Building entryway, staircase, and laundry area smell of mildew and smoke and are dirty. Again, nothing much the owner can do.
We had to leave one night early due to a scheduling mistake by vrbo or the owner. Inconvenient. The owner was apologetic.
We would probably stay here again but would ask the owner whether the above problems had been addressed.
