Beautiful Rental Comes With Poor Communication and a Lack of Concern for Guests
While the home, property, and location are beautiful, our stay left a lot to be desired.
Checking-In: Meredith Lodging (ML) did not provide home entry instructions before check-in. Received 26m past and I had to call them.
BBQ: Filthy and likely never cleaned. The utensils were not cleaned, BBQ covered in grease, grates had cheese and meat residue, grease pan was overflowing, and drip tray had so much gristle and debris I could not pull the tray out.
Non-functioning Oven and Microwave: These units are connected and lost power midway thru our stay. A ML maintanence person was unable fix. Despite numermous calls on my part, ML never called with updates--despite saying they would. We had purchased meals to cook on property to reduce expenses. Issue cost our party unexpected expenses on dinners and waste of food we pre-purchased. My understanding from ML is that the property owners wanted to cover this issue under their warranty, which left us with no oven or microwave.
General: Lower level is much colder than main floor despite temp control. Futons are extremely hard (we used air mattresses on top).
ML Solution: After numerous calls and emails, ML offered an expiring credit for a future stay at one of their properties. Not sure how this would work if you live outside their territory without incurring expenses just to use the credit. Ridiculous offer on their part.
Consensus: Great place to stay under the condition that the owners and ML take care of their guests.
