Located 6 km or 10 mins drive from the city, you will find a beautiful self-contained unit beside the Whanganui river on the famed Te Araroa Trail.
This large studio unit has a very comfy Queen bed, its own kitchenette, toilet, shower, and TV. You also have your own outdoor garden seating area where you can sit and enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine whilst listening to the sounds of birds amidst the tropical garden setting.
In summer, insect screens on both sets of doors mean you can fully enjoy the indoor outdoor ambience, and in the colder months, you will be kept warm and cozy as the unit is fully insulated, double glazed, and fully equipped with electric blankets, and heating.
A complimentary two course dinner is provided ! Great if you are arriving late in the day and don't want to cook and just want to stay in and eat.

We are a married couple (in our 50's) with three grown up (and gone away) kids. We have travelled widely but have now got to the stage in life where we are happy staying in our lovely home and to enjoy meeting a wide range of people, and to help them enjoy the secret gem of Whanganui.
Stephen runs edu-tourism programmes on Whanganui and New Zealand history, politics, culture, and economics for visiting university groups from the USA; is founder of the Whanganui AI (Artificial Intelligence) Group; and a former Director of Whanganui & Partners (Whanganui's economic development agency). He enjoys cooking, gardening, is very interested in the slow living movement, and in talking with people about everything and anything.
Mandy has spent the last twenty years homeschooling the children, and more recently writing, painting, gardening,creating homely environments and learning 5 different languages. Mandy is currently working towards a degree in counselling. Like Stephen, Mandy enjoys meeting, and making people feel welcomed.

Why they chose this property
The area which we live is in an amazing setting by the great Whanganui river, with views to the distant hills. We also live in a micro-climate within Whanganui enabling plants of many kinds to flourish.
What makes this property unique
Our property is special primarily because guests have their own private tropical garden area, and the suite is designed so that guests can enjoy insect free indoor-outdoor airflow in the summer, and warmth in the winter with luxuriously thick curtains and double glazing in place.
