Why Dennis Decker chose Manhattan
Harlem is the soul of New York City. It is not just about the incredible architecture. This is the friendliest neighborhood I have ever lived in- the best area in Harlem.
What makes this Studio unique
The quiet friendly tree-lined street, proximity to express subway- only 4 stops to Times Square, closeness to neighborhood coffee shop and historic park, as well as the 125 St. corridor and Central Park. I actually love sitting on the front stoop while having a coffee or a glass of wine. I love seeing the relaxed street life going by, and being a part of it. Since my block is dominated by private brownstones, rather than apartment buildings, it has a friendlier, small town feeling than most other neighborhoods.

A new love for New York
My husband and I have just returned from 5 glorious nights staying in the Harlem Hideaway Guest Room. We had an excellent time. We chose Harlem as had been to New York a few times before and wanted to experience something a little different and be more in touch with the locals. We certainly achieved this staying in this beautiful brownstone. Everyone we met in Harlem was kind and friendly. We had a brilliant night out on Wednesday night at the talent show at The Apollo as recommended by Dennis - such fun, haven't laughed so much for a long time - you must go if you are fortunate enough to be staying on a Wednesday. The house and room itself are extremely comfortable and it really did feel like 'coming home' at the end of a long day sightseeing. Super to have such a spacious room. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in!
We will certainly return when visiting New York again.
Great Trip to NYC
We stayed four nights at the Harlem Hideaway. The apartment was excellent all round. It was a quick walk to the subway, had a number of very good restaurants nearby, and was quiet at night (very important!). We felt very safe walking around the neighborhood. Dennis was a great host and gave us a lot of information when we arrived. I would definitely recommend staying here.
We loved Dennis' place, perfectly located for some true New York living and close enough to Manhattan to explore the sites or for commuting into work.
In the warmer months the outside terrace is a must, a great place to eat, take in the sounds of the city and sit amongst the trees.
It was wonderful having you both here and I hope you are able to return soon. Actually, Harlem Hideaway is part of Manhattan. It is uptown, but also very easy to get to midtown and downtown from here.
My third visit to Harlem Hideaway. A treasure.
1st Time in NY
Our experience at the Harlem Hideaway was nothing short of stellar. From time we arrived, until the time we checked out everything went smooth. Dennis was by far the best host you could ask for. He pays attention to detail, provides suggestions of places to visit, dining and things to do in Harlem. The Guest List room was spacious, clean, vintage and a place where we felt at home. Upon our return to Harlem, we’ll only stay at the Harlem Hideaway.
Friends from California,
We spent a great 4 nights in the Guest Room. It's a great size room, and I imagine far bigger than you'd get in an average hotel!
It's only a few mins walk from restaurants, bars, and the subway which goes straight downtown in around 20mins.
Dennis is lovely and welcoming and it's a great place to stay, away from.the madness of midtown Manhattan!
