A perfect weekend away!! Crossways is in a word simply gorgeous. The location is amazing – only a couple of minutes from the town of Bowral and yet it is so private and quiet on the estate. The children loved the trampolines and spent hours exploring and running around the vast gardens, playing basketball and just being free! We were especially thrilled with the kitchen which has been equipped with everything you could possibly need. Décor is beautiful and there are so many lovely areas within the house to just relax and enjoy some much needed time away!
We also loved the heated pool for a swim in middle of Autumn!
The hosts were fantastic in terms of communication and were super helpful recommending local restaurants and their favourite walks around the area.
Overall it was a fantastic experience and we are already looking forward to our return to Crossways!!
Kodama Retreat was such a great find and is a special place. It literally is like being in a treehouse (albeit a very large one) that looks out over a Eden-like valley and treetops, all surrounded by lush gardens. The photos on the website looked amazing and in real life the house didn't disappoint. We stayed as a large family (3 adult couples, 3 children). The double story worked well for this purpose as the kids and one couple stayed downstairs, while the retreat/yoga room doubled as a space for the kids. The house felt more than large enough, safe and private (it's the last house on the top of the hill, where a fire trail starts into the bush). Loved watching the sunrise from the giant pod lounge on the balcony - truly beautiful. Only wish I had spent more time there reading and had tried out the hammocks as well. Lots of little details throughout the house show the owners have placed love and thought into making it a relaxing and peaceful space. The main bedroom upstairs looks out onto the view and connects to the balcony. The separate bar table was great for meal times as the kids could eat there separately but still near by. Even though the Erina Fair shopping centre is only about 5 minutes away by car you wouldn't know it at all given how peaceful and surrounded by bush it is (we even saw wallabies a few times). The house does get quite warm due to the sun streaming in through the big windows but there was airconditioning so it wasn't really an issue. A few more glasses/mugs/bowls would have been handy given the number of people the house can accommodate but these were small observations in the scheme of things. Overall, a wonderful memorable stay. Thanks to Louise and Chad (and Neo!) for hosting us. It's not easy finding a big enough house for 3 families that's reasonably priced during the school holidays yet feels special but Kodama (Japanese term for tree spirit) is that.
