Description

NEWSFLASH: Lorikeet cottage now has a dishwasher and a gas BBQ!

A 100m walk from the beach, Lorikeet Cottage is a very comfortable, fully equipped 4 bedroom home away from home. Cozy enough for a couple & spacious enough for a couple of families, Lorikeet Cottage is an all-year-round getaway with 6 pristine beaches or reefs within walking distance and another 8 beaches within a 10 minute drive.

Whether reading on the comfy day beds in the sunny lounge room, sitting on the sun drenched back deck watching the native lorikeets and rosellas, or snoozing in one of 4 spacious bedrooms you are sure to relax at Lorikeet Cottage.

Backing onto a private grassed common and located on a quiet street, the property is fenced and great for kids and dogs. Check out "gallery" for more photos.

THE TOWN

Currarong is a small fishing village with only 250 people and surrounded by 14 wonderful beaches, the Jervis Bay National Park & the Jervis Bay Marine Park. Located on the “north head” of Jervis Bay (The Beecroft Peninsular), Currarong is one of the few places in NSW where you can sit on a North West facing beach looking at mountains across the water, and watch the sun set over the ocean.

The unspoilt Currarong Creek and Beach (100m away or 2 minute walk) is very safe for children and protected from Southerlies and the other end of this beach (Warrain) gets good surf. Abrahams Bosom beach (900m or 10 minute walk) is surrounded by beautiful national park – it feels like you are 100 miles from the nearest town.

Whales put on a show as they migrate along this beautiful coastline, dolphin pods cruise past the beach and the local pelicans swoop overhead. On early morning walks Kangaroos graze at the edge of the village.

Between these two beaches is a beautiful rock pool shaped just like a big lap pool where you can work off that BBQ in the crystal clear water. Just off this pool there is excellent snorkeling with the turtles on turtle reef.

If the North Easterly wind springs up, a three to five minute drive on dirt tracks will take you to the white sands & sparkling water of Jervis Bay's Cabbage Tree Beach, North & South Long Beach, Bindijine Beach & Honeymoon Bay.

The Beecroft Headland offers fantastic hiking along well-cut trails (which start on the edge of town) to 100m cliffs overlooking the ocean – some of the tallest in NSW. Small deserted beaches are dotted along the way and you can see the shipwreck of the Merimbula on a rock shelf. You can catch black marlin off the rocks.

THE HOUSE

Lorikeet Cottage has 4 bedrooms, a lounge/dining area, large fully equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher, 1.5 bathrooms and a sun room. A sunny back deck with table and chairs and outdoor hot shower overlooks a private grassy common. The back area is fenced and suitable for dogs. The garage contains the laundry and a gas BBQ.

There are two double bedrooms, both with Queen beds, one large family room with a double+single bunk bed plus an extra mattress, and a kids room with 2 single bunks. There are an additional 2 day beds in the lounge room and a thirs day bed in the sunroom. For the babies there is a cot folded up in bedroom 2, and a high chair, change table and stroller are stored in the garage.

The country style kitchen is modern and spacious with all pots, pans and utensils, a stocked spice rack, generous amount of crockery and cutlery, coffee machine, microwave and dishwasher. There is a normal size fridge/freezer and also a bar fridge. Plenty of cupboard space.

The lounge/dining room contains an extendable table that seats 8, a 68cm TV, and a DVD/video player and a CD player. A comfy lounge suite and 2 day beds provide ample seating. The coffee table stores cards and board games.

There is a large bathroom with a deep bath with shower above and toilet. There is also a separate toilet with sink. There is an outdoor hot and cold shower for the warmer months.

Lorikeet cottage is 100m from the beach, and a 4 min walk to Shops and Public Tennis Courts.

  • "We had a great stay. The house was perfect. We actually stayed during a cold snap and the cottage proved to be very cosy. We had ample space. The family had a great time exploring the beautiful surrounding beaches and scenic spots on mountain bikes. We would love to come back and spend more time there. The owner is very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. We will be back "

  • "Lorikeet Cottage was absolutly perfect! The house was set up so well it felt like home. Huge bedrooms with such comfortable beds. The kitchen was very spacious and it even had a well hiden bar fridge to keep all your weekend away drinks cold. The lounge room was great, heaps of seating for those good old family games nights and the bbq out on the deck was the best place to enjoy your breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a such a great time kicking the ball around in the shared yard out the back while my son had a blast on the tyre swing and climbing up the tree house. Lorikeet Cottage was beautiful along with the whole of Currarong. This place is a must for an enjoyable family weekend away. AAA+++. 5 stars from us. We will be staying again."

  • "Sshh! Don't tell too many people about this one. We reckon we've discovered the best kept secret on the south coast! Lorikeet Cottage definitely has more than everything you need for a great family holiday. The owners have kept the 50's beach cottage feel by retaining some retro decor pieces but have updated with some clever painting. We specially loved the sunny breakfast room done in hot pink & lime green, the trompe l'oeil on the sundeck, and the original art throughout the cottage. Oh, and the beaches.... so pristine. The water was great, even in May. Thanks for memories to treasure of my 60th birthday holiday with family at Lorikeet Cottage."

  • "Our extended family of 11 stayed at Lorikeet cottage to celebrate our Dad's 60th Birthday!! It was a fantastic weekend away, the cottage had everything we needed & was exactly as advertised on website, we loved the back deck & outdoor shower & we all felt right at home with plenty of room. We really enjoyed the nice flat walks to the beach and inlet. My son caught a really big flathead & we cooked it on the BBQ. Thanks for having us, we'll be back!!"

  • "We have rented many holiday cottages over the years and I have to say that Lorikeet Cottage is the most comfortable, homely place we have stayed in. And so close to shops, Zac's seafood caf. and beaches (only minutes away by foot or short drive if going to Point Perpendicular and surrounding beaches). Couples or families won't be disappointed. The owners have thought of everything anyone could possibly need to make a relaxing holiday (even for those with small chilren and babies). Even the weather was good for 90% of our stay. And those beds...... well, aren't they just the most comfortable beds ever. Never slept so well in a strange bed. We will definitely stay there again as we both love Currarong (and Lorikeet Cottage) very much. PS. loved the small touches throughout the house. Think the mural on the back wall was great - especially the crayfish poking out of the small hole in the wall. "

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Lorikeet Cottage and had another great summer holiday at Currarong with our family. The cottage was very comfortable and well equiped and coped well with the number of people. We've spent many holidays at Currarong over the years and would like to continue to in the future. We'll keep Lorikeet Cottage in mind when considering our next stay. Thank you. Michael & Kathryn. "
