For simple but truly luxurious accommodation on Jervis Bay, stay with us at Huskisson Bed & Breakfast – perfect for a special romantic weekend, refreshing short getaway or as the highlight of your holiday in Australia.
Our charming original 1913 weatherboard B&B cottage has been luxuriously renovated and decorated in a fresh white, uncluttered, beachy style. We’ve both travelled a lot, so we've tried to think of every detail that will make it the perfect guest retreat.
The gorgeous Verandah Room has its own private entrance through French doors (you don't have to come through the house if you don't want to ) and has a deep shady verandah to sit on. The big ensuite bathroom has huge walk-in separate shower, romantic cast-iron claw-foot bath (double-ended so no-one has to sit on the plug...) and a heated towel rail.
The Garden Room is also a beautiful room - refreshingly light, bright and airy with a super comfy queen bed, TV / DVD etc and French doors leading onto the garden and terrace. It has its own private, huge and luxurious bathroom with an original cast-iron claw-foot bath, huge walk in shower and heated floors (for toasty toes in winter).
The Garden Room can also be booked as part of a family suite with a completely separate twin room available for accompanying children or adults. The twin room shares the private bathroom with the Garden Room but you don't have to walk through any bedrooms to get to the bathroom.
We provide huge fluffy white towels, crisp cotton sheets, the most comfortable mattresses we could find, electric blankets in winter, TV/DVD with a selection of movies to watch (quirky, cool and classic), CD/ radio, a fridge and kettle and all kinds of tea and coffee, chocolates, cookies, scrabble, magazines and books. Guests have the use of an enormous guest sitting-room and dining area too with real wood-burning fire in winter.
Well-behaved, healthy dogs will also welcome, but you will need to discuss this with us as there are conditions. We have a fully-fenced property, our own dog and 2 'dog tolerant' cats.
Ten minutes off the Princes Highway, environmentally pristine and stunningly beautiful Jervis Bay is an ideal stopover if you are driving between Sydney and Melbourne or exploring the NSW South Coast. The ideal destination for a weekend out of the city, we are only a 2.5 hour drive from Sydney and 3 from Canberra. Jervis Bay is not an actual town but it's just a bay. Huskisson is the main town on Jervis Bay and a great central spot where you can walk to beaches, 'city quality' cafes, shops and the wharf.
Huskisson may be the "Gateway to Jervis Bay" but really it's a charming, unspoiled seaside town, with its own cute weatherboard cinema showing recent release movies, the famous heritage 'Husky Pub', RSL, all kinds of boutique shops, fantastic play park and truly gorgeous white-sand, clear-water beaches. We've got some really great restaurants and our very own mini 'cafe strip', with excellent coffee and al fresco food. The famous Dolphin and Whale cruises leave from Husky wharf - all of the above are only a 3-5 minute walk from our B&B.
We serve a 'continental style' (i.e light) breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly baked toast, breads & jams, meusli, cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt. Freshly brewed coffee and tea (and if Steve is around he makes an excellent espresso, capuccino or latte). We are also only a 3 minute walk to Huskisson's great cafes if you are craving a big cooked breakfast.
We are one street back from the waterfront, 30 metres from the jetty onto bay (in the picture), 3 minutes' walk to Huskisson village, 5 minutes walk to the lovely open-air sea pool and the first of Huskisson's stunning beaches. We are about 10 minutes drive to Hyams Beach (the whitest sand in the world?) and the truly stunning Booderee National Park with its amazing deserted white-sand beaches, secret coves, high sea cliffs, ruined lighthouse and great bushwalks. You could even try a bush tucker tour with a local aboriginal ranger, Barry Moore - a great experience.
We are across the road from the Lady Denman Maritme Heritage Museum.
