Description

Olive's has a quaint cottage feel but with all the mod cons for the discerning traveller and food and wine lover. On the eastern side of the Tamar River, 15 minutes north of Launceston, it is an ideal rural base to explore the wine route and northern region of Tasmania.

The cottage has a combined lounge, kitchen and dining room, leading to extensive decking. There are two bedrooms, and an optional third in the form of a quiet sitting room with an idyllic outlook. The fully landscaped gardens include sweeping lawns leading to mesmerising views over the Tamar and to the vineyards beyond. As sole occupants of the property, you can relax and unwind unencumbered by others.

Windermere is on a beautiful section of the Tamar and in easy access of Launceston, historic towns, mountains, beaches, berry farms and orchards.

The rate includes continental breakfast and Devonshire tea provisions on arrival. Full breakfast available. Local wines also available at the cottage. Bookings accepted for children only if 12 years or older.

Guest Reviews

  • "Our stay at Olives Cottage, was a great success. It was even prettier than the photos, and had everything there that anyone could possibly need.We hope to return next year, and stay longer.June and Jack were very helpful, and the house was spotlessly clean."

  • "Our stay at Olive's cottage could not have been better. It is a lovely cottage set on a beautifully landscaped property overlooking the Tamar river and the vineyards beyond. Sitting on the deck, listening to the kookaburras and the cicadas in the evening with a glass of wine was very relaxing. The available for purchase wine selections in the cottage were extremely well chosen and a great complement to our evening dinners. Our next door neighbor hosts, Jack and June, were just like friends and ready to help with anything we might need. They stocked the kitchen with breakfast items that were just delicious. We especially enjoyed June's crumpets with Devonshire cream and the eggs from Jack's "chooks". This is a great place to stay if you want to just kick back and relax around the property and the very quiet and lovely Windermere area or as a base of operations for day trips to the wineries and other many attractions in the Launceston area. We definitely hope to visit Tasmania again and when we do, we will stay at Olive's cottage. "
