Where the bush meets the reef. The best little b&b north of Cairns. Welcome to the home of Clifton Beach Retreat. A newly built timber and corrugated iron b&b set in tranquil bush and lagoon surroundings. Located within 20min drive of the Tropical metropolis of Cairns and bordering the Great Barrier Reef.
Clifton Beach is a quiet residential suburb situated 20kms north of Cairns nestled between Trinity Beach and bustling Palm Cove.
Clifton Beach Retreat is located 100 metres from the Coral Sea - a short stroll around the corner, one block back from the beachfront. The rooms are new semi self-contained air-conditioned cabin style including queen size beds, fridge,TV, ensuite with toilet & shower, microwave, tea/coffee making facilities, shared laundry and private balcony.
We have an in ground swimming pool for your enjoyment set in the lush backdrop of Melaleucca trees (paper bark eucalyptus) which are the home of many native birds including Kookaburras, Rainbow Lorrikeets, Ibis, Curlews, Honey- eaters and many more - a bird watchers haven.
A Barbeque area out near the pool will allow you to cook your own barbeque and enjoy the lush bush setting during the day or romantically by candle light at night.
Clifton Beach is but a short distance from Cairns but is easily accessible to all the tours in the area as you can be picked up nearby to any of the many tours you would like to enjoy, including the Great Barrier Reef, Kuranda Train , Skyrail, white water rafting, hot-air ballooning etc.
Alix will help you plan your tours and book them for you on your arrival.

Neville, nicknamed Perce to all that know him, is a builder of many years who has built this beautiful retreat with some unusual features and designed the rooms to have a roomy feel with high ceilings and louvre glass windows to allow sea breezes. He is known for his friendly laugh and happy go lucky personality and loves bird watching, hiking and tennis.
Alix is a very out going friendly people person who has worked in hospitality for 15 or more years, but now works in a ladies boutique clothing store at nearby Palm Cove. Alix loves meeting people from everywhere having lived in French Switzerland when she was young, can speak basic French and understand it even better. Alix enjoys hiking, tennis and socialising.
Both Perce and Alix are very friendly and approachable and will be more than happy to help you to organise all your tours and plan your stay.
One of the wonders of the natural world, The Great Barrier Reef is World Heritage listed and is one of the worlds premier holiday destinations. The area abounds with wildlife including green turtles, dolphins and whales, more than 1500 species of fish, mollusc and 200 species of bird life. Ribbon reefs also called barrier reefs, grow along the edge of the continental shelf. There is a huge array of different types of trips to choose from. view the reef by diving snorkling, in a glass bottomed boat or semi-submersible. Take a day trip or sail amongst the coral cays or visit a tropical island for a day. All of these day trips are easily accessible from Clifton Beach either via Cairns with a pick up at Palm Cove 5 minutes away or via Port Douglas which is 40 minutes north of Clifton Beach Retreat. Alix will gladly organise and book your tours for you.
