Located only 15 min from Cessnock and 15 min from the centre of the Polkabin wine region this cutely decorated old farmhouse has been beautifully restored with antiques and quality furniture, designed to create a luxurious and restful stay.
A hydrotherapy spa bath will mean perfect pummelling in the all white and slate bathroom meticulously finished with old style exposed tap wear and restored pedestal basin. Underfloor heating means toasty toes during the colder months.
A chandelier carried all the way from Prague has pride of place in the lounge room that takes in views down the valley and up the mountain all around on the other side. Large picture windows and large wrap around deck mean there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the views.
The original agar stove is a showpiece in the restored original kitchen complete with modern day stove, oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and all that is needed to cook up a storm. Dine at the 19th Century table and antique chairs in the centre of the kitchen or on the deck.
The cottage itself has 2 bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with a queen. Both beds have quality mattresses, sheep skin mattress covers, pillows and quality 100% cotton linen because we want to ensure a good nights sleep.
A bottle of Hunter Valley Wine is supplied with each booking of 2 or more nights.
There is a third bedroom which we call our Kids Retreat.
We have had a 7 page feature in Inside Out Renovators Guide released in May this year.
Kids Retreat Just Completed
A specially dedicated room for children in an annex off the house. It has two bunk beds with the an additional two beds via a trundle and fold out single bed. This room has its own toilet and wash basin, TV with DVD and Video and kids corner complete with toys including a trainset, chalkboard, old style tricycle and games, tonka trucks to play with outside and many more. This room is only available upon request with an additional fee of $50 per night but we don't charge extra for children.

We stayed at Clydes at Mt View recently. The farm house is only minutes from Cessnock but we felt that we were miles from anywhere. Misty mountain air, isolation and only the sounds of the birds and the cows in the morning. The house felt like home with all the facilities to make our short stay comfortable, loved the warm fireplace for those cold nights. We were able to bring our old dog who loved the cool countryside to walk in. The house was only 10 - 15 mins from the Hunter Valley wine region - we had a ball.

The property was very cute and comfortable not to mention peaceful. We loved the fireplace and the toasty bathroom. Our dog had a wonderful time too. Great to see we could have brought the kids if we wanted to but glad we didn't all the same. I am happy to recommend this lovely cottage.

The location was excellent with the only noise coming from the birds and cows. The house itself was nice and the beds were very comfortable. All the modern conveniences were provided and we did not want for anything. In all, a very relaxing stay.

Beautiful verandah with a magnificent view. The sound of the birdsong made it feel so secluded and peaceful yet the fantastic Molines restaurant was only a 10 mins drive. We loved the spa and under floor heating and the beds were superb. Thank you.

Clyde's was all I expected plus more! It was a gorgeously restored farmhouse but with all the modern conveniences. The north facing verandah, the roaring fireplace, the luxurious spa bath, hearing nothing but bellbirds or a cow lowing in the distance, the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, everything provided for the kids, a lovely bottle of wine.....I could go on and on..... We'll definitely be back.

This was an absolutley beautiful house to come to for a weekend away. The only noise we heard was that of the gorgeous bell birds and the cows mooing in the morning, perfect. The house was so comfortable and my only regret is that we didnt book a longer visit

A beautifully decorated farmhouse that was truly unique. Highly recommend staying if you are stressed & need peace & quite away from the rat race. Our dog loved wandering around the property & having a sniff. All the modern day comforts are thought of while still maintaining a farmhouse feel.

Yet another luxurious stay. Evenings in front of the fire and in the hydrotherapy bath - daytimes on the deck in the sun, bbq'ing breakfast and lunch.
3 days away is as relaxing as being away for 2 weeks! Even our dogs just lie back and soak up the atmosphere.
Congratulations on one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in !
Many thanks, Nikki, Kyle & Pooches

Cosy, warm and inviting. Stunning rural location, not far from Hunter wineries. Relax on the verandah, or snuggle up in front of the fire. Totally relaxing country experience, loads of room for the littlies to run wild!

Hi Jenny.
We LOVED your place and had such a relaxing stay in the Hunter. The Shih Tzu twins enjoyed romping in the fully fenced yard, so they had a great time, too, and it was wonderful to be able to stay in such a well-appointed place with them.
I think the best compliment I can give is that I woke up in the middle of the night and thought I was at home! I never sleep well away from my own bed, but awoke refreshd and rested on both mornings.
We will definitely be back, and I will be telling all of my friends, family and colleagues
about Clyde's. It's lovely that you retained the name of the original owner--what a
tribute.
Thanks for thinking of everything!

Wonderful place, our second visit this year. Very relaxing, quiet, great woodburning stove, comfy beds, lovely decor and all the facilities you need. The biggest attraction was the kids retreat for the boys, we hardly saw them all weekend. Highly recommended.

Jenny well done on creating a fabulous and cosy farm house. All the trickets were fun to explore and the kids room kept our little girl happy for hours! The deck is exceptional and there was nothing more beautiful than waking up to a crisp sunny morning having a cup of tea in our PJs on the deck. Total peace, total relaxation and beautiful fresh air. Thank you.

This was the second time my Husband and I stayed at Clydes - and it won't be the last. Jenny and Jonathan have provided a luxury retreat perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. The house is beautifully decorated, and includes all the mod cons. The bathroom is real treat (heated floor, spa bath...). I am already looking forward to our next visit.

Great property to stay, away from it all and easy and quick access to vineyards and the Hunter. Loved the bathroom, fireplace and made up fire on arrival (nice touch), deck, surrounds and location. Kids room novel and a good 'escape' for all. Actual accom (kitchen, living) was a touch small but we managed (4 adults and 4 under 4), and the place has everything you need! Will suggest to others and hopefully return. Fantastic directions too!

Four of us had three very relaxing days at Clydes, following my daughter's wedding in Sydney, and escaping the madness of APEC. It was very comfortable & the kitchen was well appointed - we even could have done some baking if we'd been so inclined! Would highly recommend Clydes for a break away.

What a beautiful week-end in the country. My partner Damien and I enjoyed sitting on the verandah reading, eating and just staring out at the lovely Australian countryside. We didn't see any wineries, as we didn't want to leave our country retreat. The house is the perfect mix of vintage country warmth and modern gadgets. The spa is lovely, the woodfire romantic and the kitchen reminds me of my Grandma's country kitchen. Very peaceful and a lovely respite from crazy Sydney - Clyde's won't disappoint.

Fantastic house in a magic valley. We wanted for nothing and found it hard to leave the property to explore all the wineries so nearby. The bellbirds meant CD's got played only after dark- they were amazing. We'll definitely be back. Thank you from us and the very happy hound
