Description

A beautiful restored cottage for your romantic getaway or your family holiday.
Joseph's Cottage is heritage listed and recorded by the National Trust as being of historical significance. It is in a relaxed setting with spectacular views of Mount Wellington from the rear and the Derwent River at the front. The front verandah is just the place to sit and enjoy a pre dinner drink - watch the sun go down and the city light up. All this and you are only a short 15 minute walk to the centre of Hobart or a two minute drive. The bus stops across the road as well.
Fully self contained with kitchen & laundry facilities as well as conservatory style dining room which is the perfect place to eat breakfast and plan the day.
In winter sip complimentary port by the huge open fire at the end of the day. In summer perhaps a barbeque in the traditional cottage garden would be more appropriate. Listen to the birds and admire the views.

Property

This Georgian cottage has three pretty bedrooms; the master bedroom with queen size bed. There is also a double bedded room and a twin bedded room. The beautiful bathroom has an extra large bathtub with shower, toilet and handbasin. A portacot is also available should this be required for infants.

Locality

Joseph's Cottage has two great eateries within two minutes walk. Paesano is a wonderful Italian restaurant that is well established and is very popular with locals and tourist alike. If you don't feel like eating out they also do a roaring takeaway pizza trade. Tell Domenic I sent you! The Lansdowne Cafe is a popular place for breakfast or lunch.
Joseph's Cottage is central to all that Hobart has to offer. Salamanca market, the museum and the wharf are only a 20 minute walk away. Mount Wellington is THE place to take a drive on a clear day. The views of Hobart and the surrounding areas are spectacular.
Joseph's Cottage is just the place to base yourself for day trips out of Hobart as well. Mount Field, Port Arthur, the Huon Valley and Richmond are all an easy day trip away.

Guest Reviews

  • "Beautiful cottage; wonderful atmosphere and charm; fantastic views; happy little tourists - we'll be back! "
    Jenny, May 2009

  • "This is a very lovely cottage, extremely comfortable with everything provided for an enjoyable stay. The views from the front and rear of the property are magnificient, but that hill is something else - ok for mountain climbers. The children had a great time when we drove up/down - they thought it was just like Luna Park."
    Judith, April 2009

  • "Just a short stay of two nights, but we were not disappointed. There is everything here to make a short or long stay an absolute delight. Highly recommended."

  • "Joseph's Cottage was a great base in Hobart. It was comfortable and cosy for our family of 6. The kids loved the garden and the games supplied in the house. Extras provided were very considerate. Highly recommended.Leanne, QLD, Feb 09"

  • "Lovely Cottage - just what we wanted"

  • "A lovely, cozy, well presented and very comfortable cottage right near the heart of pretty and green Hobart city. It is a hilly little spot, so if like me you are too full from the excellent restauraunts in the town to waddle back, a car, taxi or rental car (which is highly desirable to see Hobart and environs regardless) is recommended. A quiet location, with easy access to mini-supermarkets and a delightful italian restaurant and high-quality DVD store. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and would definitley stay there again. The wood fire (with ample logs) was lovely for a cold night along with wall heaters in key spots to keep the cottage cozy."

  • "My husband and two children had a mini break of four days,in Hobart Josephs Cottage was a perfect choice. Location great, Cottage very comfortable with great views, owners provided everything we needed for a wonderful stay. "

  • "We found Joseph's Cottage a very clean and comfortable home for 6 of us4 adults and two children and the owners were most friendly and co-operative.It was close to food outlets and restaurants but a car is necessary for getting to most places since the very steep Hill it is located on is quite a shock and difficult to climb up and down...especially if you are not fit. Overall we were very happy and would stay there again."

  • "Delightful stay. The cottage's views of the mountain and the river were wonderful. We felt completely at home and very comfortable with three adults and two toddlers. Our daughers adored the garden and the nearby playground. We had everything that we needed for our lengthy stay. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended."
