Description

You have the 150 acres to yourself and it is close to great attractions. The farm has friendly Boer goats, sheep, alpacas and small Irish Dexter cattle. There are 340 million year old fossils to collect. The terrain is mostly flat country and a creek flows 1km along one boundary. Take nature walks and see the wildlife - especially birds, wallabies, & goannas.

The house is a small four bedroom cottage with a large covered veranda. It has a bath/shower, separate toilet and ensuite in the main bedroom. There is a well equipped kitchen- gas cooktop and oven, dishwasher. The lounge room has a comfy leather lounge, is reverse cycled air conditioned as is one of the bedrooms. There are polished floorboards and ceiling fans throughout. One bedroom has a Queen size bed, one has a tri-bunk (double base and single above), the other two rooms have two single beds each. There is spare double sofa bed and a trundle with mattresses to give flexibility in the sleeping arrangements. The house is surrounded by a nice garden in the twp acre house paddock.

The house has satellite internet broadband. Please advise if you are interested in using this.

You will find books & magazines to read, two TVs and DVD/VCR, PlayStation 2 (BYO games), gas and wood BBQs and a phone for local calls.

There is a table-tennis table, "Foosball" table, cricket gear swing set and a trampoline.

Pets are very welcome but normally must stay out of the house. The "house paddock" is well fenced to keep most dogs in and the undercover veranda will protect them in bad weather.

It is located about 2.5 hours drive north of northern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. From Sydney follow the F3 freeway north to Bulahdelah. The farm is only 10 mins drive from the town of Bulahdelah and only 5 mins from the Pacific Highway.

In April 2009 we added solar panels to the farm and we now export "green" electricity to the national electricity grid, 365 days of the year.

If Fingal Farm is booked out when you want it, then have a look at Fingal Beachhouse instead. (www.stayz.com.au/27108).

The calendar is always up to date and the detailed tariffs for the whole year are shown on this website.

Things to do on the farm

You may be happy just to sit on the large veranda and soak up the relaxed atmosphere. But there is a lot to see and do:

* Explore the old Quarry and find Brachiopod fossils;
* Feed Silver Perch in the house paddock dam;
* Feed and pat the friendly South African Boer goats;
* Feed the sheep, alpacas & Dexter cattle;
* Explore the farm- find the billabongs and creek flowing into Myall Lakes;

  • "We loved Fingal Farm! What a peaceful beautiful place! The house is big and really well equipped! There is absolutely everything you could possibly need for a great holiday! The children can run around safely, feed the animals, find fossils etc! They absolutely loved it there and we all cant wait to come back! The owners are very helpful and nice! Thank you! I can only recommend this place!!! "

  • "As a couple of old grey nomads, we had as much fun at Fingal Farm as any child could have. Loved the animals of course, and we felt like we were staying in a friends home who had just gone shopping. All the little extras were there. Being a bit of an artist, I now have enough photos to use for future paintings for a long long time."

  • "The property was perfect for the extended family (6A & 3K). The house was clean, comfortable and had everything that we needed. The kids loved the animals, particularly the goats and even spent a couple of hours in the quarry. We'll be back soon."

  • "The perfect place to get away from it all. Spent 2 nights, wasn't long enough. Our 14 month old loved feeding the animals. The house was comfortable and clean with a great kitchen. Perfect for the kids. What more could you want from a weekend out of the rat race."

  • "A great get away for a family with young kids - the children really enjoyed feeding and patting the animals. There was sufficient space for 4 adults and 3 kids which was great. Our host Brendan was more than accommodating with our early check-in and late departure. Thanks again for a great stay!"

  • "2 families (4 adults + 2x 2yrs, 2x 4yrs) had a wonderful relaxed weekend at Fingal Farm. We were "in charge of the farm" and fed the goats and cattle; wandered through the paddocks in search of the billabong; lazed on the verandah watching the giant goanna climb the blue gum; had a big cook-up in the well appointed kitchen; and feasted under the magnificent starry sky. The kids refused to sleep, they were so excited, and so stayed up with us till much too late. We also went to the beach and the lake and wished and wished it were a long weekend. "

  • "We had a wonderful week at Fingal Farm. It's very well maintained and just about everything has been thought of to make your stay even better. Not too far from the beaches or shops and it's location is perfect for a wonderful drive up the scenic tourist route. We will definatley be staying here again! The owners are more than helpful and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend staying here. Thanks Rob and Lucille. "

  • "We had an excellent long weekend here. Our Kelpie had lots of fun exploring the large fenced house garden and the Boer goats, Dexter cattle and alpacas were very cute. The huge verandah looking onto the garden was fantastic and the location so close to the beautiful lakes and beaches of the area was very convenient. We were very sad to leave- a perfect relaxing quiet weekend away and great value for money!"
