Description

You have the 150 acres to yourself and it is close to great attractions. The farm has friendly Boer goats, sheep, alpacas and small Irish Dexter cattle. There are 340 million year old fossils to collect. The terrain is mostly flat country and a creek flows 1km along one boundary. Take nature walks and see the wildlife - especially birds, wallabies, & goannas.

The house is a small four bedroom cottage with a large covered veranda. It has a bath/shower, separate toilet and ensuite in the main bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped with appliances- one exception - no dishwasher, sorry. The lounge room has a comfy leather lounge, is reverse cycled air conditioned as is one of the bedrooms. There are polished floorboards and ceiling fans throughout. One bedroom has a Queen size bed, one has a tri-bunk (double base and single above), the other two rooms have two single beds each. There is spare double sofa bed and a couple of spare trundles with mattresses to give flexibility in the sleeping arrangements. The house is surrounded by a lovely garden.

The house has internet broadband. Please advise if you are interested in using this.

You will find books & magazines to read, two TVs and DVD/VCR, PlayStation 2 (BYO games), BBQ and a phone for local calls/Internet.

There is a table-tennis table, \"Foosball\" table, cricket gear and a trampoline.

Pets are very welcome but must stay out of the house. The two-acre \"house paddock\" is well fenced to keep your dog in and the undercover veranda will protect them in bad weather.

It is located about 2.5 hours drive north of northern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. From Sydney follow the F3 freeway north to Bulahdelah. The farm is only 10 mins drive from the town of Bulahdelah and only 5 mins from the Pacific Highway.

If Fingal Farm is booked out when you want it, then have a look at Fingal Beachhouse instead. (www.stayz.com.au/27108)

Things to do on the farm

You may be happy just to sit on the large veranda and soak up the relaxed atmosphere. But there is a lot to see and do:

* Explore the old Quarry and find Brachiopod fossils;
* Feed Silver Perch in the house paddock dam;
* Feed and pat the friendly South African Boer goats;
* Feed the sheep, alpacas & Dexter cattle;
* Explore the farm- find the billabongs and creek flowing into Myall Lakes;
* See the wallabies in the morning and evening; and
* kids can Kayak on the billabong.

Sorry, but we now normally do not allow trail bike riding, due to pasture damage.

Things to do in the area, climate

*25 mins drive to beautiful surf beaches- Seal Rocks, Pacific Palms. Another 20 mins to Foster and Taree;
*10 mins drive to Bulahdelah shops (bakery, cafes, garages, churches, supermarket, Chemist, Post Office, hotel, hospital);
* Visit the tallest tree in NSW- about 15 mins from the farm;
* Fishing, exploring and boating at Myall Lakes, 15mins drive;
* Kayak on the local lakes and rivers. There are 2 kayaks available- you will need roof racks. Alternatively there are local kayak and boating tours;

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Fingal Farm. As 'city slickers', we had great fun putting on our gum boots and venturing out to feed the animals every day. We were lucky to be there in spring and to see the playful baby goats (which our own kids loved cuddling) and calves. The house was very comfortable, and we made great use of the barbeque and huge table on the veranda. We loved the beautiful bush setting. This was a fantastic holiday."

  • "Dear Rob, We really enjoyed our stay at your farm. It was very relaxing. The kids (and adults) had a blast feeding the animals. They all had their favorite goats... Many thanks again!"

  • "We loved our time at Fingal Farm! It is such a peaceful place, and in beautiful surroundings. During our stay, we invited a family of 8 to come a join us for a few days - yet it didn't seem like there were that many with us! The kids could play with our dog (who loved the fenced 'house paddock' to run around in), feed the farm animals, hunt for fossils, have a campfire and toast marshmellows... (They ran out of time to do everything.) It really kept them entertained! My wife and I enjoyed the lazy afternoons and sunshine in the big, comfy chairs on the verandah/deck. We didn't even feel a need to explore all the very close beautiful features of the Myall Coast area! When we needed to grab a few groceries, it was a quick 10 minutes to Bulladelah (even though the farm is in the middle of the bush surrounding by mountains). It is extremely convenient where it is situated. Rob (manager/owner) warmly made sure we were OK through emails and phone calls. Everyone loved this wonderful experience. Both the family we invited, and ourselves, are aiming to come back to Fingal Farm - and soon!"
