LAKE DARTMOUTH

Lake Dartmouth, situated in the mountains of northeastern Victoria, was built for a reliable supply of water for VIC, NSW and SA in times of drought. Dartmouth is well known for its abundance of quality trout, which can be caught all year round.

Lake Dartmouth has 3 designated campsites, which are serviced by Goulburn Murray Water. Eustace, Eight Mile and Dart Arm campsites have toilets, BBQ facilities and levelled camping areas. Access to Eight Mile and Dart Arm Campsites are restricted to boat access only. There are numerous other campsites, dotted around the lake, accessible by boat and 4WD.

THINGS TO DO

Dartmouth is a great place for all holiday activities. For the canoeists the Mitta Mitta River has class 3 rapids below the banimboola power station, called the sharks teeth, when the river has a good flow of water. 4WD adventurer’s and trail bike riders have access to some of the best 4wd tracks in the northeast; springtime is the highlight with breathtaking views of Mount Bogong. Fishing is the main attraction for Dartmouth, the lake produces quality trout all year round. But you don’t need a boat to fish at Dartmouth, some of the best and biggest fish are caught in the regulating pondage. People wanting to fly fish and bait fish in streams you can not go past the snowy and lighting creeks, also the Mitta river when the water level is low enough.

Located only two-minute walk from the local Hotel, small grocery store, craft shop and post office.

The six-mile car park, toilet facility and boat ramp are only a short 15min drive from Dartmouth.
