Description

Dramatic sustainable house designed for relaxed hoilday living by Mapleton local Philip Boorman who has many awards for his outstanding Architectural work and modern furniture designs.

Located on the escarpment in the centre of the 125 acre site. This privileged isolation has allowed the house design to be opened to the volume of the surrounding private space by the extensive use of timber framed bi-fold doors and windows. Solar panels generate the power supply and roof water is collected in tanks for filtered reuse within the home.

When John Seccombe obtained the land by way of the selection process in 1904 the original survey plan of the day noted that \"All the country here on shown is of an Extremely Rugged and Broken nature.\" This rugged landscape has protected the area from the encroachment by subdivisions for over 100 years, providing flora and fauna with largely undisturbed area for species listed as endangered, such as the Coxen Fig-Parrot and the Regent Honey eater\'s to thrive.

Guest Reviews

  • "'This is a truly magical place. Our visit completely de-stressed ( in 1/2hr) and invigorated us both physically and mentally. The second visit gave us a great feeling of coming home. I know we shall go home again. Some ice cream is heaven on a stick, this is heaven on a rock' Eric and Mary Hepburn - Caledonian Colour"

  • "We were determined to plan our wedding, we knew what we wanted and just simply needed to find the right venue to hold the occasion, Boorman Eco exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived until our reluctant and unwilling departure (6 days later) Boorman Eco provided us with the freedom to create the most unforgettable experience. The garden wedding couldn't have been more perfect with the breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and Boorman Eco as a backdrop, everything was wonderful. Our guests sharing the memorable day were overwhelmed by the private setting, enjoyed the open air dining experience and generally complementing the overall design of Boorman Eco. Truly the only one of its kind this unique retreat coupled with the sense of seclusion you can't help but feel as though you have discovered a rare piece of paradise. With time to ourselves in the days following the wedding relaxing in the natural setting we knew that we had reached our goal, we had achieved something magical and that made our special day more special.' • "For some time I have been delivering flowers for the lucky people staying at Boorman Eco. I decided that when it was my time, I was going to get married here. The best part about our wedding day was getting married at Boorman Eco. We had a small intimate wedding and every person that came loved the house and location as much as us. To be honest there are no words to describe how truly amazing this place is, the setting takes your breathe away literally. There is a sense of completeness when you are there, it is the most beautiful place I have ever been and so romantic. Denise and Philip were so wonderfully helpful in allowing us to make all the necessary plans to ensure our day was just as we hoped it would be. Natasha and Paul - Nambour Florist"

  • "Denise and Philip Thank you so much for a life changing stay at Eco Boorman. We were not sure anything could top a week of bush camping in the amazing Great Sandy National Park. But the moment the drive down the winding, treed entry to Eco Boorman opened out onto the view over the valley with the house perched on the edge of the escarpment, central in the scene, we knew we were wrong ? it took our breath away! The gum covered mountains of the hinterland are more than spectacular, and the location and design of the home emphasizes and enhances their grandeur, just as they provide the perfect backdrop to the house. They truly work in harmony. The contemporary take on the Australian bush house aesthetic, and the materials chosen for the house work so well in their context, but the layout and attention to detail are equally successful. Every room has windows framing the most awesome views ? even the laundry! The picture window in the living area has the most amazing impact as you enter the house, and the deck area appears to float out into the bush land. The fun colours used for the bedroom joinery compliment beautifully the rich deep timbers of floor and ceiling. Having 4 children under 9, we particularly appreciated the open-plan style single bed sleeping arrangement. It was fantastic for the kids? giving just enough separation and togetherness. As for the main bedroom - it has one of the most spectacular views. Falling asleep under the stars was an unexpected treat, and waking to see the sun coming up over the valley gave a romantic edge to the break away ? even with children in tow! Staying at your home was so much more than just relaxing. For us it was truly life changing. The information provided on the area, your commitment to preserving the environment, and the self-sustainable design of the home were inspiring. We were even excited by the walk to the compost heap! Of course you were preaching to the converted, but it has spurred us on to commit further to our own environmental mission. Initially I wondered why you hadn't gone further ? more batteries / no generator. By the time I left I thought that combination was inspirational. The impact of different appliances on the power supply is dramatically displayed, and cleverly passes on the message of energy conservation and awareness of consumption. We want to keep passing that message on! Living it, experiencing it - that is the most effective way to encourage people to change. Maybe a stay at your home would not have the same refocusing and reenergizing impact on everyone ? but maybe they will not all be anticipating returning home to severe and prolonged cancer treatments either! While at the house though, the impending treatment was the last thing on our minds ? we just enjoyed spending time in a most beautiful part of our country, and making plans for our future. Congratulations on constructing more than just another holiday house - and thank you for sharing the opportunity to experience it. Denise, you are a warm and welcoming host and I wish you both all possible success in the future. Narelle Edgar Architect"

  • "?Philip Boorman?s eco house provided us with a welcoming, exotic and secluded environment for a break away from the ?rat race? of Sydney. The design and interior of the house could not be surpassed ? the interior is imaginative and inspiring. It is a fabulous location in every way ? a wonderful architect designed home, very peaceful, views to die for and Philip and Denise, the owners, are very hospitable and very lovely people ? a place for discerning guests. You could not find a better place to relax and gather your thoughts ? we would recommend you contact Philip or Denise if you are seeking accommodation that is different, stylish and first class.?"

  • "This is a stunning place! TOTALLY Private. This is the perfect place to truly get away from it all. Everything in the house is of the highest quality without compromise. We were so proud of our choice to saty here that we even organised for our friends and family to visit! Thanks Denise and Philip - we love this home and will back again next year!"
