Gumtree Wai is a modern four bedroom, two bathroom western red cedar homestead located on 5 acres of picturesque, groomed land in the beautiful Congewai Valley, just 15 minutes from the beautiful Hunter Valley wine trail and the Cessnock CBD. A place for all seasons, Gumtree Wai is sure to become a regular stop off for you, your family and friends.

Imagine warm summer evenings lazing by the landscaped salt water pool, casual strolls across the groomed field or a relaxing bath after a day of wine tasting.

Cool winter evenings sitting by the fire basket under a blanket of stars entertained by the rhythm and harmony of nocturnal wildlife. Catch yourself a meal of fresh water yabby from our dams and enjoy it with a Hunter Valley semillon.

The homestead features reverse cycle, ducted air conditioning, an open plan kitchen/dine/living area fully equipped for you to cater for yourself in every way. And if you don't feel like cooking then restaurant quality dining is available at the near by Paxton Hotel, just 5 minutes by car.

Luxuriate on the generously proportioned recliner lounges, read a book, watch a movie from our impressive selection or have fun with a variety of board games.

The property comfortably sleeps up to 8 people. The Master suite includes a queen bed, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. Glass doors open onto the verandah where cafe table and chairs have been placed for guests to enjoy a morning coffee, or to unwind with a nightcap at the end of the day.

Our second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom offers a double. Our fourth bedroom has a wrought iron day bed that can be re-configured for a single or queen.

All bedrooms are fitted with ceiling fans and built-in wardrobes.

Our garage houses our laundry and an additional bathroom with shower and wc. You will also discover 1 adult size and 2 children's size bicycles complete with helmets. There is also a set of golf clubs to allow a knock about the paddock and other games are always being added.

On arrival guests can enjoy the welcome basket complete with a variety of teas and coffee as well as supplies for your very own, self-cater country breakfast.

FAQ
"How soon after departure will I get my bond back?"
We do not hold your bond for longer than 7 days after your departure. Once a property inspection is completed your bond will be returned in full provided there has been no damage, theft or other breaches in our policies. These policies can be supplied on request.

"What happens if I need to cancel or alter my booking?"
A copy of our booking and cancellation policy can be requested via email. A deposit indicates that you have read and agreed to these terms.

"I have a gorgeous, well behaved dog. Can I bring her along?"
We are happy for your furry family members to accompany you on your getaway. Please advise management of the inclusion of pets with your initial enquiry. We can also recommend a business that will sit your pet, in the comfort of their own home at a minimal cost per day so you can enjoy a care free getaway. There is also a boarding kennel within a short driving distance if necessary.

Where are we?

Just 2 hours drive from the Sydney CBD, Gumtree Wai is seperated from historic Wollombi by the Watagan Ranges. In a little known valley called Congewai. Home to several dozen local families Congewai offers seclusion with the convenience of being just a short drive to all the Hunter has to offer.

Gumtree Wai is situated five minutes drive from two country pubs which serve quality country-style meals. Within 15 minutes to the CBD Cessnock, fifteen minutes to the historic village of Wollombi and just ten minutes to Mount View vineyards and cellar doors.

The famous vineyards of Pokolbin and Lovedale with world class golf courses, vineyards and restaurants are fifteen minutes away.

Lake Macquarie, Stockton Beach and Newcastle Airport are within an hour’s drive.
