Gumtree Wai is currently undergoing stylish renovations and will be open for rentals once again from the end of May 2013. New additions will include solar heating to the pool, a wood burning fire to the open plan lounge, new furniture and extensive redecoration/refurbishments throughout the whole house.
Gumtree Wai is a beautiful modern four bedroom, two bathroom western red cedar homestead located on 5 acres of picturesque, groomed land in the beautiful Congewai Valley, just 15 minutes from the famous Hunter Valley wine trail and Cessnock CBD. A place for all seasons, Gumtree Wai is sure to become a regular stop off for you, your family, your pet and friends.
Imagine hot Summer days lazing by the heated resort style pool, casual strolls across the field watching the resident kangaroos or relaxing on the deck after fun-filled day of wine tasting in the many local Hunter Valley vineyards. Cool winter evenings spent sitting by the indoor wood burning fire sampling local cheese & port chosen at the vineyards that day, or alternatively, standing around the giant outdoor fire basket under a blanket of stars entertained by the rhythm and harmony of nocturnal wildlife. Catch yourself a meal of fresh water yabby from our dams to BBQ and enjoy it with a Hunter Valley semillon. Watch the kids and dogs run free over our lovely fully fenced 5 acres or play lawn bowls/cricket/golf all together with equipment provided on the paddocks or fenced front house lawn. You will also discover 2 adult size and 2 children's size bicycles complete with helmets. Relax on the huge wrap around deck, taking in the awesome views in every direction, especially those fabulous sunset views over the Watagan Mountains. Read a book, watch a movie or have fun with a variety of our board games, games console and sports equipment for the whole family to enjoy.
The homestead has all the mod cons you can imagine and is immaculately presented . It features reverse cycle, ducted air conditioning, an open plan kitchen/dine/living area fully equipped for you to cater for yourself, family and friends in every way. We provide a BBQ on the house verandah for those fantastic sunset views, as well as a poolside BBQ for your lunchtime sausage sizzles! And if you don't feel like cooking then restaurant quality dining is available at the near by Paxton Hotel, just 5 minutes by car. There's also a great country pub with lovely Valley views at Ellalong.
The property comfortably sleeps up to 8 adults, plus two young children. The large Master suite includes a queen bed, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. Glass doors open onto the verandah where cafe table and chairs have been placed for guests to enjoy a morning coffee, or to unwind with a nightcap at the end of the day. Our second bedroom has a queen bed also with sliding glass door leading onto the expansive wrap around deck. The third and fourth bedrooms also offer queen & double beds with views leading onto the private and pretty garden. All four bedrooms are fitted with ceiling fans and built-in wardrobes.
Set up perfectly for easy family holidays, you will also find a timber cot, high chair and childrens' plastic plates/cups/bowls/cutlery- plus lots of other extras such as a change table and toys. Along with a fire guard to make life easier and a fully fenced pool area aswell as a fenced flat house lawn, Gumtree Wai is ideal for those with little ones! We can also provide an additional port a cot and extra high chair to accommodate two young children on request.
There are numerous local bushwalks just down the road, including the famous 'Great North Walk', but for the less adventurous, an easy flat walk or ride into the Congewai Valley to see colouful birds, expansive wildlife and many local farms is just as much fun!

FAQ
"How soon after departure will I get my bond back?"
We do not hold your bond for longer than 7 days after your departure. Once a property inspection is completed your bond will be returned in full provided there has been no damage, theft or other breaches in our policies. These policies can be supplied on request.
"What happens if I need to cancel or alter my booking?"
A copy of our booking and cancellation policy can be requested via email. A deposit indicates that you have read and agreed to these terms.
"I have a gorgeous, well behaved dog. Can I bring her along?"
We are happy for your furry family members to accompany you on your getaway. Please advise management of the inclusion of pets with your initial enquiry. The house is newly renovared and includes lots of costly furnishings so pets are not permitted inside the house. Any sign of this will result in loss of bond. There is a large enclosed undercover wraparound verandah for them to enjoy.
Where are we?
Just 2 hours drive from the Sydney CBD, Gumtree Wai is seperated from historic Wollombi by the Watagan Ranges. In a little known valley called Congewai. Home to several dozen local families Congewai offers seclusion with the convenience of being just a short drive to all the Hunter has to offer.
Gumtree Wai is situated five minutes drive from two country pubs which serve quality country-style meals. Within 10 minutes to the CBD Cessnock, fifteen minutes to the historic village of Wollombi and just ten minutes to Mount View vineyards and cellar doors.
The famous vineyards of Pokolbin and Lovedale with world class golf courses, vineyards and restaurants are fifteen minutes away.
Lake Macquarie, Stockton Beach and Newcastle Airport are within an hour's drive.
