  • "The property was very large and well suited to a large group staying, perhaps two families, or friends meeting in Canberra from other cities. The house was very 'homey', with comfortable beds and an abundance of pillows. A portacot was provided at no extra cost. The kitchen had a good range of pans, utensils, plates etc - though we couldn't find a lemon squeezer! There was an abundance of hot water, and I really appreciated the washing machine and under-cover washing line. Some downsides - only one toilet made mornings a bit strained with a large group staying, and while the bathroom was clean and nice, there was no bathtub, which made washing small kids a bit tricky. Some of the floorboards were quite creaky which could bother a light sleeper, and we found the water pipes quite loud, particularly when showering. Also on the noise front the neighbour has a huge aviary which means guests may be awoken by birdsong. I found the magpies were up and singing before the neighbour's flock though. Overall a good budget-friendly choice for our large group attending a function at EPIC, just a short walk away. Watson shops were close and there were many nice restaurants and a pool at Dickson, about a 10 minute drive away. Thanks for having us :)"

  • "Our family of adults enjoyed our stay at Cockatoo House as we were able to relax and spread out in separate areas. We were pleased to arrive from Brisbane to efficient and warm heating in the house on an extremely cold Canberra day. After staying in apartments in town over the years, we found Cockatoo House located in a quiet suburb with shops and cafes not too far away. The house offered all we needed for our week-long stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of holidaying in the capital city. "

  • "Outside was run down and rough looking; inside was clean but dated. The water pipes in the shower made a continual loud banging sound but the water was hot and the internal heating (gas vents and a gas central fire) were excellent for the few nights we had in cold Canberra. I'd revisit"

  • "This was a great house for the family - lots of room for the kids to run around and wonderful heating to keep us all warm at night! The location is great, very close to the Dickson restaurants. Will stay there again!"
