Description
Nestled between the mountains and the sea - Pink Moon offers all the elements of holiday simplicity. Drive to your front door; marvel at the amazing ocean view; walk to the beach; relax on the expansive deck; stroll amongst the eucalypts and enjoy the abundance of wildlife; and, if you're lucky wonder at the rising pink moon from the comfort of your couch.
This three bedroom house (1st with QS bed, 2nd with bunks, and 3rd with QS bed and fold down single) has all the basic comforts of home, so think of it as your own. Make use of the well appointed kitchen and eat in (plus undercover BBQ), or enjoy the offerings of Kennett Cafe, pub meals at Wye Beach Hotel, fantastic coffee and food at "The General" Store at Wye River, or chase fine dining at either Lorne (20 min.) or Apollo Bay (25 min.).
At Pink Moon there is either plenty to do, or nothing to do....you decide!
Sustainable Living!
We are conscious of minimising Pink Moon's footprint on the planet. For a start, we have purchased carbon offsets for your drive to and from Pink Moon!
The house is powered by 100% accredited wind power and energy saver globes are used wherever possible. A new state-of-the-art electric hotwater service has been installed, which uses 75% less power than that used by a standard hotwater service. In addition, Pink Moon's water supply comes totally from an on-site rainwater tank. All waste water is treated and dispersed on-site.
Activities
There are a variety of great walks ranging from easy to hard - bush or beach (there's a copy of "Walking in the Otways" under the coffee table for those 'virtual walkers').One great outing is the easy one hour stroll along the beach - with a little rock hopping - to Wye River with the reward of a great coffee and portugese custard tart at the end of it!
Plenty of fishing options - river, beach or rock fishing, plus a small boat launch spot only 2 minutes away! There is a local tennis court, plus playground for kids - lots of fun.
Kennett River offers one of the most user friendly waves on the coast, both for long or shortboarders, with more challenging swell less than 10 minutes away.
Indoors, we offer Pink Moon compilation CDs, a small range of DVD's to watch in either the main living room or the downstairs bedroom and an assortment of games and puzzles. Of course, you can always lose yourself in the oceanview on one of the comfiest couches around!
