Cape Tribulation is located between two World Heritage areas: the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree National Park, approximately 140km north of Cairns (2˝ hours drive), and 75km south of Cooktown. Domestic and International visitors can fly direct to Cairns, where a number of transfer options to Cape Tribulation are available.
To get to Coconut Beach Resort you can use the following options:
Coach transfers are available between Cairns and Cape Tribulation daily. We recommend "SunPalm Transport" who offer daily transfers to and from Cairns airport, they also provide a similar service from Port Douglas. Transfer time is approximately two and half hours each way. You are able to book these transfers through the hotel.
You can also organise to hire a car or drive your own and enjoy the magnificent scenery at your leisure. Once you arrive at the Daintree River the ferry, operating between 6am to 11pm, will take you across to Cape Tribulation.
Leaving the Cairns Airport, you will travel for approximately five minutes, before coming to an intersection (left for Cairns, right for Port Douglas/Mossman). Head north towards Port Douglas & Mossman – drive past the Port Douglas turn-off (turn-off is to the right), and through the township of Mossman. Approximately 30kms past Mossman, you will need to turn right towards the Daintree River Ferry Crossing (a large sign indicates turn) – do not drive straight ahead as you will end up in Daintree Village. Join the vehicle ferry (approx AUD 20 return) as directed by ferry staff. After the ferry crossing, you have entered the Daintree National Park and as such, the road is windy and dark in places due to rainforest canopies – so drive slowly & with care. Coconut Beach Resort is located approximately 45 minutes drive after the ferry crossing.
The perfectly situated Cape Tribulaiton Resort & Spa is unlike any hotel in the world. The ancient Daintree forest is literally a living museum that has barely changed over thousands of years, while the Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral formation, comprising nearly 3,000 reefs, with 400 different kinds of coral. Its waters teem with spectacular marine life. Go bushwalking, horse riding, kayaking, snorkelling, jungle surfing, taste exotic fruits, enjoy rainforest walks by day or by night, crocodile cruises, fishing, bird watching, 4WD tours - or simply unwind in one of Australia's most beautiful, untouched settings.
Make sure you visit the brand new day spa 'Ocean Spa' located on the shores of Coconut Beach during your stay. Featuring 100% natural Australian products, treatments include clay wraps, body scrubs, stone therapy, traditional beauty and much more - all from one of the world’s most stunning and unique destinations.
