This property is classified as ‘No Smoking’ i.e. ‘No Smoking’ permitted once you enter the gates into the property. Please do not apply if you cannot comply with this rule.

The self contained cottage is on a working Christmas Tree farm. It is situated on a sealed road just 2.4 km off the Federal Highway 15 minutes from Canberra, close to wineries and within a 20 minute drive to the historic towns of Bungendore and Gundaroo.

Details:
Christmas Tree Cottage is a former Sydney Olympics house in a rural setting, only 15 mins to Canberra and transit distance to the airport. For the wine buffs there are up to 12 wineries within a 20 minutes drive.

The self-contained cottage has two Family suites available for rent for short or medium term accommodation. Whole cottage rates is also avialable. Each suite has its own private front entrance. The cottage provides spacious accommodation suitable for groups or individuals. The cottage has a wood fire as well as reverse cycle heating and cooling. There is a TV room and a dining/kitchen with fridge and cooking facilities. There are DVDs and videos to entertain the kids and adults. There is a fenced secure backyard for kids and pets.

There is about 10 acres with dams immediately around the cottage for you to pursue outdoor activities. A wetland with dams is in the development stage. Visitors will find numerous birds and Australian native plants including orchids and fringe lilies as they walk round the farm's 31 acres. For the active there is a 2 km walk around the farm past dams, open native grassland and Christmas Trees. The dams have been stocked with native fish and visitors are welcome to try their luck at catching one in competition with the resident Pied Cormorant and the kingfishers.

Sleeping configurations:
The cottage has 2 family suites which sleeps up to 8 persons (2 couples + 4 singles) comfortably.

Each Family suite is comprised of a Master bedroom (with a TV) and a connecting Twin room (2 single beds) available as required. All the rooms have a reverse cycle cooling and heating unit. Each suite has its own private front entrance and ensuite bathroom. A cot is available on request. Please convey to us your group make up for pricing and catering. Linen and beddings are all supplied.

There is a communal TV room and a recreational annexe next to cottage. The cottage's living/kitchen room has a wood fire, large fridge, oven cooktop and microwave available for all guests to use. Crockeries, cutleries and cooking utensils are also available.

A Dog Friendly Place & Getting there

We realise for some families your pet dog is part of the family and we invite you to bring your pet dog with you. Dogs are not allowed on furniture or beds. If you are out for the day and leaving your dogs behind they must be left in the enclosed yard or shed and not in the house. You must provide for your pets' eating and sleeping requirements. It is the responsibility of dog owners to clean up after their pets. If there are other guests in the house you are required to discuss with them if it is suitable for your pet to be in the shared areas. The cottage comes with a secure backyard but guests need to use their discretion. As a condition of stay guests are to accept responsibility for their own pets.

Other Pets.
Unfortunately cats are not allowed as Barbara is allergic to cats. other pets are not allowed.

Your direction from Sydney:
Take the Hume Highway and the Federal Highway towards Canberra. Continue past Lake George, then 2.7 km after the Brooks Creek Bridge and just before Newton VC Rest Area, turn right onto Shingle Hill Way. The farm is 2.4 km on the right (242 Shingle Hill Way). There is a large 'Christmas Tree Keng' signboard at the front gate. We are only a 2 and a half hours drive from Sydney's International airport to our farm gate.

Your direction from Canberra:
From Canberra take the Federal Highway to Goulburn/Sydney. Go past the two overhead bridges and immediately after the 'Middleton VC' Rest Area turn left onto Shingle Hill Way. We are 2.4 kms on the right and there is a "Christmas Tree Keng' sign at the gate. Our address is 242 Shingle Hill Way.

Your direction from Melbourne:
From the Hume Highway after Yass take the left turnoff to Murrumbateman/Canberra onto the Barton Highway. Just after Murrumbateman turn left onto Murrumbateman Road that goes to Gundaroo and the south coast. At the end of Murrumbateman Road turn right onto Sutton Road. After 1.1 km turn left onto Shingle Hill Way. The farm is 9.4 km on the left (242 Shingle Hill Way, Gregory’s Canberra directory Map 108 A1). There is a large 'Christmas Tree Keng' signboard at the front gate.

The cottage has 2 Family suites which sleeps up to 8 persons (2 couples and 4 singles). Single Family suites are available for booking only up to 7 days before arrival unless booking both Family suites. Whole cottage rate (exclusive use of cottage plus your rooms, minimum 2 nights stay) are available at all times.

All tariffs are per night. The cottage has 2 Family suites which sleeps up to 8 persons. Each ensuite family suite has a Master bedroom and a connecting Twin room available as required. Guests are limited to 1 dog. If more than 1 dog please advise as conditions of stay and whole cottage rate may apply. Please read our cancellation policy below.

The following are the family suite and whole cottage tariffs:

Family suite tariffs per night (only available for booking up to 7 days before arrival unless booking both family suites):
Rate is based on a family suite.
One night: Up to 2 persons $140 per night. Extra person $20 per night
Stay 2 nights or more: Up to 2 persons $130 per night. Extra person $20 per night.
Pet fee - $10 per pet per night

Whole cottage rate:
Exclusive use (of shared facilities) of whole cottage plus your own room(s) (2 nights minimum stay).
Rate: Up to 2 persons is $200 per night; extra person at $20 per night
Pet fee - $10 per night per visit

Please note the above rates include a self-catered continental breakfast. Other one off complimentary extras like pancake, eggs, etc are supplied. You have to provide beddings and food for your pets.

Payment of balance of your account:
You can settle your account at the end of your stay in cash, Visa or MC. A charge of 3% applies to the balance outstanding for credit card payments

Cancellation Policy:
(1) Once a booking is confirmed it cannot be changed if the change results in a loss of income to the proprietor.
(2) If you give more than fourteen (14) days notice of cancellation before you are due to arrive, only your booking deposit is payable.
(3) If you give less than fourteen (14) days and more than forty eight (48) hours notice of cancellation before you are due to arrive, your booking deposit and 50% of the tariff due for the remainder of your booking are payable.
(4) If you give less than forty eight (48) hours notice of cancellation before you are due to arrive, or if you do not arrive, the total tariff due for your booking is payable.
(5) Smoking on the property, disorderly conduct, unreported extra guests staying overnight, your behaviour causing discomfort to other guests, antisocial behaviour, etc are not acceptable. Your accommodation will be cancelled with no refund and the balance of tariff is payable.

These charges apply to accommodation that is booked or cancelled. The applicable amount is charged, without notice, to your credit card or by retaining monies paid in advance.
