Description

This was the original homestead on this 3000 acre property and is brimming with character and beauty in it's recent restoration. The bathroom is designed so that you can soak in the bath while taking in the beautiful views of the southern highlands. There are original mosaic motifs throughout the house as well as original flooring, a woodfire, and verandah which has stone, quarried from a local slate quarry. The verandah wraps all around the house and we have allowed outdoor dinner and sofa settings so you can soak up the bliss of the silence and the crisp fresh country air. We have a queen bedroom and a double bedroom. A truly lovely escape.
We have four beautiful 2-3 hour bush walks for the outdoor enthusiasts.

"The Blueslate Cottage is more or less my dream abode, with high ceilings, sash windows and the like..." Sally Pryor

  • "This was a wonderful and tranquil place to stay at and the kids loved the animals. The cottage is really, really pretty and cosy and we even had bicycles to ride around in. Our alarm clock were the sheep, it was fantastic! We had our meals in the outdoor area every day and enjoyed the views and the peacefull ambience.Took a beautiful drive to Oberon and also visited the Wombeyan Caves. The kids said the visit to Wombeyan caves was the best day ever and the animals at the farm too especially the horses & alpacas and lets not forget about collecting the eggs from the chicken coop. They were so excited to go and check how many there were each day. Ok we didn't do any of the walks cause I am lazy but I am sure they would be fantastic because the whole place looked amazing. Will stay again, just need to manage to score some more leave from work. If you want a real farm stay experience this is the place to stay........! Great and very helpfull owners too!"

  • "What a delightful place to recharge your city weary soul! So often have we been disappointed by internet booked cottages but this exceeded all our expectations. No sign of country kitsch - just a charming natural warm homely feel with tasteful decor, very comfy beds and a wonderful large verandah to hang out on and watch the sunset with the roos, sheep and cows. A quiet private retreat. Our hosts made us feel very welcome with a bottle of wine, fruit and hearty breakfast. Great bushwalks down to the creek and along the ridge. Will definitely be back."
