OurSecret IS BACK AGAIN !!

"OurSecret" is Helen's private and charming Katoomba cottage. It is self-contained and fully furnished, including a gas log fire, double-glazing, a modern kitchen, and carpeted bedrooms. Its construction was based on an 1880s miners hut and it now has a typical Australian Edwardian-Federation timber exterior (1920s style), decorated indoors with sensitivity to its quaint heritage character.

Maximum persons = 2. Electric room heaters. All linen is supplied including doonas, and towels.
Kitchen: Dishwasher, electric oven, microwave, natural gas cooktop and other appliances are available and you can enjoy breakfast (self-catered) in the sunny conservatory-style sitting area beside the new modern kitchen, or al fresco on the open verandah.

The comfortable heritage lounge room includes TV, DVD & VCR, satellite FTA TV, a small library including local and Australia-wide touring information, and a gas logfire stove within the original sandstock brick fireplace which makes it really cosy.

Paid WiFi Internet may be available during your visit but must be pre-arranged well in advance. Please ask about this and about other local services and network coverage. (There is no fixed line phone socket available for the use of holiday guests).

** This cottage is not considered suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility difficulties.

Where is "OurSecret" ?

The cottage is located on the tourist/south side of Katoomba, close to the main attractions, National Park bushwalks, restaurants and galleries. It faces north over its own peaceful garden, which includes a small pond, lovely Autumn colours, and unusual flowering bulbs and cherry blossoms in Spring. The mature garden has been enhanced with native flowering plants that are attracting the unique Blue Mountains birdlife. Bowerbirds and Honeyeaters, including Wattlebirds are regular visitors.

What to do here .........

Short, near-level walks from the cottage take visitors to the Lurline Street galleries, restaurants, information centre, craft shops, and to Echo Point where the famous "Three Sisters" formation can be seen - or walked to along the Prince Henry Cliff Walk. This excellent bushwalk takes in the most spectacular views of Blue Mountains National Park. Connecting tracks start as close as 100 metres from the cottage, or you could stroll and browse for 15 - 20 minutes past the Lurline Street delights, or return by trolley bus.
A short walk in the other direction, Katoomba township has supermarkets (till midnight), specialty stores, a multitude of restaurants and cafes, art and craft galleries, live shows, large-screen movies, bush-sports and tour services, hospital, railway, car hire and most other city services.
The Blue Mountains and Wollemi National Parks provide opportunities for bushwalking, off-road touring, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling, canyoning, and wildlife viewing. Local guiding and instructing companies can be found in the main shopping area of Katoomba. I can provide recommendations and am happy to discuss your outdoor activity interests.

NOTE ON MINIMUM STAYS:

** 2 night weekend stays start Friday evening and end Sunday morning, except the following:

*** Australia Day, Anzac, June, and October Long Weekend bookings are a minimum of three nights from Friday evening to Monday morning.

**** Easter weekend minimum stay is four nights from Thursday evening to Monday morning.

******* WEEKNIGHT STAYS ARE OCCASIONALLY AVAILABLE - PLEASE ASK AS THESE ARE NOT ALWAYS SHOWN AS AVAILABLE ON THE CALENDAR
If your stay is for a week it normally starts Sunday evening and extends 7 nights, except for those weeks after Easter and the Long Weekends listed above, when it starts Monday evening and extends 6 nights. All weekly stays end on a Sunday morning.

#### Last minute bookings are not always possible. Please contact us as far in advance as you can, even if you are just thinking about a trip.

We aim for a response time of 48 hours, but this is a private home not a business and we may be temporarily uncontactable for work, travel, or family reasons. The calendar is blocked (red) only after confirming your booking.

NB: *If you supply inadequate contact details I will not be able to block the calendar for your reservation, even a tentative one. For legal reasons your address and fixed line and mobile phone numbers are required. Your details are kept by the owners only for the purpose of securing your stay, are discarded afterwards, and will not be knowingly transmitted to others (Stayz policy may vary). Reservations are not secured until the deposit is received and funds are cleared.
