Strandhaus (Beach House in german) is the ultimate beach house at the emerging costal township of Rainbow Beach in Queensland, Australia. The house is located in a quiet bush setting along the 20km stretch of pristine sandy shoreline that connects the Sunshine Coast to the passage to Fraser Island.
Whether you want to just relax by the pool, take a walk along the beach, adventure out to the many natural wonders of the region or take a day trip to Fraser Island, Strandhaus is the perfect holiday destination for couples, families and friends to enjoy the beautiful Cooloola region.
Strandhaus was the 2009 state winner for the "Beach" category on one of Australia's leading holiday rental web-sites selected from a choice of 13,000 houses and was featured in the October issue of "Australian Traveller" as one of the "100 Great Australian Holiday homes"
Details
The house is an open plan design which has been designed with a 5 star energy rating to maximise the bush & beach location by capturing the sea breezes to stay cool in summer and warm in winter.
Strandhaus has 3 large bedrooms with enough space to comfortably sleep 6 people. The master bedroom has a queen bed and ensuite upstairs adjacent to the sitting room overlooking the living area. Downstairs has 2 bedrooms, 1 is quite large with a queen bed and the other has 2 single beds. Linen is included in the price. All living areas and bedrooms have high ceilings and are equipped with the highest standard of finishes. The living area opens to the main deck overlooking the pool and connects to a large expanse of decks externally to allow guests to enjoy the pool, bush and abundant sunshine. The large European kitchen with stainless steel appliances allow guests to cook up a feast, or the alternative is a bbq on the main deck.
A Large flat screen TV, DVD and Hifi are situated in the living area which features double volume ceilings and a very pleasant view out over the pool and the bush.
The area
Strandhaus is located just 270m walk from the beach via a bush track that is accessible from the back deck. There are no roads to cross and no traffic to worry about. The beach is pristine and is free of the 4wd traffic that is common in other parts of the Cooloola coast.
Within a short walk there is a convenience store and a 5 star restaurant which are part of the local resort. This resort offers activities such as Golf and Tennis to the public.
The township of Rainbow Beach is about 2km away and offers several restaurants, bars, clubs, supermarkets and a variety of smaller retailers

* The coloured sands, starting just south of the township show you where Rainbow Beach got its name
* Inskip point, is where the ocean and Tin Can bay meet providing an ideal location to relax and swim away from the waves. This is also the access via a short ferry ride to Fraser Island.
* Seary\'s Creek, a freshwater creek that is a great place to cool off or take a short stroll along its boardwalks
