Description

Relax an unwind in this perfectly located beach-side oasis, or get busy exploring the close by Douglas Apsley and Freycinet national parks, and scenic coastal towns.

Dolphin Sands is a long sand bar adjacent to Moulting Lagoon and fronted by Oyster Bay. The water is sheltered for swimming, and the beach is perfect for walking.

Eclipse's style is an eclectic mix of retro, antique and handcrafted furniture, mixed in with the usual beachhouse shells, stones and driftwood. It is more homely then a resort, and is specifically a lo-fi seaside retreat,
which means there is no internet, only a small tv and basic radio.

Only Telstra mobile phones have optimal service at the Dolphin Sands,
the 3 network operates on roaming, and Vodaphone reception is poor.
There is a land line at the house.

Two night stays may be available upon request

The House

General Layout:
The top floor of Eclipse is open plan, with a mezzanine platform for sleeping, which makes for great star gazing.

Downstairs you will find an open plan living & kitchen area, with an efficient wood burning pot belly stove, this is the primary source of heating and wood is provided.

Adjoining this there is another bedroom opening onto the main bathroom.

Bedding Configuration:
Upstairs there is there are two single beds together on mezzanine that make up a king size bed and under the mezzanine a double bed.

There is a queen size futon and a single bed in the downstairs bedroom.

This layout would best suite 1 or 2 couples, with or without kids.

Dogs are welcome, we do not however have a fenced in yard.
There is a wide sheltered verandah if you did want to keep your dog tied up whilst you are out during the day.

  • "My husband and I booked Eclipse on the weekend just been, even though it was mid winter we still enjoyed the beach, had a BBQ and sat on the porch with a book and a beer. We loved it and would like to stay again in the future. We found the house to be larger than the photos show it. The house was well equiped, quirky but homely and located in a quiet/peacful position. Our dogs loved roaming outside and the beach. A couple of suggestions, better pillows, tissues, a microwave jug for the kitchen and to have the on/off switch fixed on the spa so you don't have to get in and out to switch on/off. "

  • "We spent a wonderful and relaxing 2 weeks in early January 2011 at Eclipse. The house is open, airy, very well-equipped and fun. It is set in the dunes well back from the road (check it out on Goole Earth) and with a 30 second walk you're on the beach. We had the beach to ourselves (really - one day we saw 3 people in the distance) and caught two 30 cm Bream off the beach. We caught more fish at the inlet down the road and kayaked at Freycinet. We highly recommend Eclipse."

  • "Eclipse is a divine, peaceful haven, tucked away in a beautiful corner of Tasmania. The only sounds you hear while you're there are the sounds of the sea, the wind and the birds. And watching the sunset over Freycinet and the constantly changing views of Great Oyster Bay, it doesn't get much better. The house is light filled and inspiring, an absolute joy to visit. Thankyou for sharing your very special home with us. "
