Description
The original 3 bedroom renovated cottage provides a lifestyle time capsule of 60's Summer holidays fishing with your grandfather, exploring private tracks to hidden beaches and playing family scrabble at night.
The house is warm and cozy: there are two rooms with queen beds (one with a single also). The 3rd bedroom has a double bunk.
In addition to the front verandah, the is an outdoor dining area at the rear of the house.
Located on the fringe of the national park the verandah takes in the ocean views through the bush only interrupted by the multitude of birdlife and kangaroos.
There is a large stock of books, movies & board games.
The kitchen is well equipped. Doonas and pillows are supplied.
depot beach and surrounds
Depot Beach, 8km off the Princes Highway and 14km north of Batemans Bay, is 2 hours drive from Canberra and 3.5 hours from Sydney. Look for the Depot Beach and Durras Lake North turn-off onto Mt Agony Road.
Depot has a beautiful, protected beach, extensive rock shelves, magnificent views to the north and beautiful spotted gum and burrawang forests all around.
It's a great surfing beach but is also safe for younger or inexperienced swimmers. North Durras Beach is another renowned surfing beach that is a short walk or drive from Depot.
The South Coast is renowned for excellent fishing and Depot Beach is no exception. There are great spots for beach fishing, lake fishing and also rock platforms. Depending upon the time of year you can catch snapper, redfish, leatherjacket and flathead.
Durras Lake, one of the most pristine coastal lakes in NSW, is perfect for canoeing, prawning and boating.
wildlife
The Murramarang National Park is a sanctuary for a multitude of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, echidna, possums, goanna and spectacularly colourful parrots and other birds.
The park is home to over 207 species of birds and 39 native mammals as well as over 400 species of flora.
Look for lyrebirds, parrots, gliders, sea eagles and the endangered sooty oyster catcher.
Marine life is also abundant. Dolphins are regulars and whales sometimes visit on their seasonal migration
