Description
Welcome aboard “HMAS LEO", named in honour of the previous owner, Commander Leo Hillis, a long time resident of Separation Creek. This House is recently renovated with polished floors, ceiling fans and new windows which give fantastic views of the surrounding forest and, of course, the ocean which is just across the road (no walking up and down steep hills to get to the beach and back! A one minute walk is all it takes). We are set back from the Great Ocean Road with our spare block fronting the road which gives access to the beach from the house. The spare block is ideal for playing tennis and cricket etc. There is a double carport at the rear with undercover BBQ and an extra fridge/freezer. A large balcony (with outdoor setting) surrounds the Eastern and Southern sides of the house.
The house garden includes mature trees and shrubs which give good shade on warmer days. Birdlife is sensational with King Parrots, Kookaburras and Magpies all willing to be handfed from the balcony. We have Satin Bower Birds, Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, Black Cockatoos, Superb Blue Wrens, Currawongs, Wattle Birds and many others. Local Koalas and Echidnas are often sighted. Whales, Dolphins and Seals are sometimes seen from the house.
Inside the house there is a spacious kitchen-dining-lounge area overlooking the ocean. There are two bedrooms downstairs, one with Queen bed and the other a double. Extra mattresses are available for more guests. There is a shower/laundry/toilet downstairs and a master bedroom upstairs with double bed and ensuite. The kitchen has a gas stove, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. All crockery and cooking utensils are provided.
The beach is perfect and relatively unpopulated for most of the year. It is ideal for surfing. It is also a great place for surf and rock fishing and there are many rock pools to explore.
Walk along Paddys Track to Wye River which is just a 10-15 minute scenic walk through coastal rainforest overlooking the ocean. Walk back along the beach. Alternatively it is a two minute drive. The Wye River beach is patrolled by Surf LifeSavers every day between Christmas and New Year and every weekend in January.
The local “Wye Beach Hotel is unrivalled for its picturesque views and popular for its provision of good meals. The Wye store / restaurant /coffee house is also a good eatery.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the constant rhythm of the surf and the smell of salt air!
