Enjoy sipping a coffee or cold drink on the balcony while watching the hustle and bustle of a working boatshed, or join in and take a leisurely paddle up the river to experience the peace and quiet of the upper Woronora region.
Two main bedrooms have ensuite facilities with showers and spa baths. Some single rooms are also available, with shared facilities, so that whole families can base their holiday or weekend getaway here.
Guests have use of a shared lounge/dining area which opens onto the front balcony, which is also used for breakfast and lunches. Note that between 9am and 4pm this area is open as a boutique cafe, serving home-made cakes and snacks as well as light meals to an appreciative clientel. This factor, plus the active boatshed below the cafe, makes the accommodation unsuitable for anyone wanting to sleep during the day.
The owners live on-site in a separate apartment.
The Boatshed has boat hire (overnight guests paddle for free) and bushwalking on its doorstep, while the Royal National Park and the Heatcote National Park are a 10 minute drive away.
Cronulla beach is 15 minutes by car, or can be reached by train from Sutherland station.
The historic tram museum at Loftus is also well worth a visit.
Then follow the coast road down along Sea Cliff Drive and go up to Sublime Point look out at Bulli for spectacular views.
Stanwell Tops is a popular hang gliding centre, with radio control gliders often operating a couple of hills further north.
Sydney city centre is 30kms north, or 35 minutes by train from Sutherland with a frequent service. (Tip: Buy a joint ticket for many attractions including a Harbour ferry ride to Taronga Park Zoo or over to Manly). The train continues out to Bondi Junction but a bus or taxi is required to reach Bondi Beach.
