Description
Frangipani Cottage is situated on our one hectare property in Jaspers Brush which is just south of Berry. From the front verandah, the view extends past the dam to Seven Mile Beach, Coolangatta Mountain and the Shoalhaven River. All around are green rolling hills and it's worth getting up early in the morning to watch the sun rise over the ocean. Ducks can be seen swimming on the dam which is also home to many frogs who will sing you to sleep each night. Depending on the timing of your stay, there may be water lilies or irises in bloom. There is a resident wombat whose home is on the southern boundary, and you may also be lucky enough to spot an echidna. Birdlife is plentiful including crimson rosellas, galahs, willie wagtails, blue wrens, green parrots, black cockatoos, currawongs and kookaburras, plus you will hear the sounds of many birds in the rainforest on the escarpment to the west. The property is at the end of a small lane of only three homes, so it is incredibly quiet and has no passing traffic. It is fully self contained and very comfortable with all linen and towels provided. Although it is approx only 20 metres from the main house, it is completely private. Breakfast provisions will be placed in the fridge at the beginning of your stay, and normally include eggs (from our chooks, Thelma and Louise and the new 'Herbs' - Parsley, Thyme and Rosemary), bacon, muesli, yoghurt, butter, home-made jams and marmalade, juice, Sourdough Bakery bread, fresh milk, a bowl of fruit as well as a variety of teas and coffee. A bottle of local wine and a cheese platter will also be awaiting your arrival. If you would like to upgrade to a bottle of French champagne please enquire about cost. There are a variety of books, CD's and DVDs which should suit most tastes.
Three night minimum stay public holiday weekends, four night minimum over Easter. Weekend rate is either for Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. One night stays accepted midweek at the rate of $200.
Local Attractions
The delightful village of Berry is only ten minutes away, and there you will find a choice of cafes, restaurants, books, antiques, homewares and fashion shops. There are many bushwalks in the area or you may wish to visit one of the many excellent wineries and sample their produce. Further afield are Gerringong, Geroa and Seven Mile Beach to the North, or the Shoalhaven River, Bundanon (Arthur Boyd's gift to the nation) and Jervis Bay to the South, as well as Kangaroo Valley to the West.
