LOCATION

Fingal Bay is in the Port Stephens area, a short drive from Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay. Port Stephens is known as The Dolphin Capital of Australia. It is 2-1/2 hour drive north from Sydney. Sandcastles is only a short level walk (5 minutes) to the beach and the local shops. A tennis court is nearby.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO

Fingal Bay is a beautiful protected beach for swimming and fishing. There is a cycle/walking track from Fingal Bay to Shoal Bay and on to Nelson Bay. Fingal Bay is surrounded by Tomaree National Park with its many scenic bush walks.
Fingal Island (with its lighthouse) is connected to Fingal Bay by a sandy spit which can only be crossed at low tide (Care must be taken as the spit can be dangerous to cross at times).

It is only a short drive to Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay - golf courses, bike hire, restaurants, cafes, clubs, dolphin and whale watching cruises, as well as the ferry to Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest. 4 WD and 6 WD adventures to the sand dunes are also available.

Guest Reviews

  • "Just wanted to thank you for our wonderful stay and your prompt help with the booking. The apartment was modern and clean and had everything we wanted, even a great private outdoor area. The pool was a great bonus and it was only a short walk to the beach. We will definitely be back next year. "

  • "Staying at Sandcastles was exactly what we were after for a relaxing family holiday. Just a few minutes from Fingal Bay beach or better still the poolside at your doorstep, which was great for keeping the kids occupied. You???ll definitely feel spoiled as we did in this well appointed townhouse, and will find that you???ll be quite happy to relax out in the courtyard soaking up the sun. Though if you???re after some excitement for the day we recommend going on the X-Jet boat for a trill seeking ride around the Bay. Port Stephens has a great deal to offer for all ages and we will definitely be back again. "

  • "This was our second year visit to Sandcastles at Fingal Bay. We have had the most wonderful stay possible. The weather was just perfect for us, coming from a dreary Melbourne Winter, the sun was tonic for my soul. The Port Stephens area is just majestic. We were lucky enough to spot Dolphins three times from the beach, with one time being only about twenty feet from the shore. It was just so relaxing sitting on the beach reading a book and watching the sun glisten on the sea. When visiting the area you must go and see the views from both the Gan Gan Lookout and the Lighthouse, just spectacular. If you have children you must do the Sand Tobaganing at Anna Bay, thats great fun. NSW is blessed by it's entire North Coast."
