Description

Somerton is a spacious family home pleasantly situated on a level 1 acre of private gardens at the top of Mount Gibraltar.

Security gates begin the charming driveway to the front of Somerton. There is plenty of off street parking and easy flat access to the house for unloading luggage.

"Somerton" is a tasteful combination of contemporary furnishings and original features. High ceilings, timber floors and wide hallways. French doors open from the living room to the private North facing courtyard with barbecue and outdoor table setting. There is also a TV/Games Room with a table tennis table.
Swing set, trampoline and slides will keep the children entertained while the less active may choose to make use of the outdoor seating and entertaining areas overlooking the gardens.

Entertainment:

Local Art Gallery's:- Old Milk Factory Gallery in Bowral, Bell Gallery in Berrima and Sturt Gallery in Mittagong to name a few favourites.
Antique Stores in Bowral, Mittagong, Moss Vale and Berrima
Dine Out in any of the numerous Restaurants and Cafe's in the surrounding villages of Bowral and Mittagong. Vin Santo's is ideal for family dining and a real local favourite.
Visit the vineyards for wine tasting or a meal ! Only 5 minute drive to Centennial Vineyard and others.
Play golf at any or all of our local golf courses...there are too many to name but for a picturesque, challenging course play the local favourite, Moss Vale. All courses are within an easy 10 minute driving distance of Somerton.
Visit the famous Bradman Museum, only 5 minutes away.
Book a court and play tennis in Bowral or Mittagong.
Check out 'What's On' at our local Cinema on Bong Bong Street in Bowral. One of my old coffee haunts is located just behind the cinema, Coffee Culture...and needless to say they make great coffee...as do 'Elephant Boy' on the main street in Bowral, where you can also enjoy a wonderful lunch, taste the Rangoon Raquet Club sauces in a nostalgic setting with an ambience of the Brittish Raj.
Take a walk through Mt Gibraltar National Park or many other scenic walks in the Highlands.
Feed the Ducks at Lake Alexander in Mittagong. Pack a picnic and enjoy the spectacular Carrington or Fitzroy Falls.
The local swimming pool is nearby or pristine beaches are within an easy 40 minutes drive.
Local produce markets at Bowral Public School 2nd Saturday of every month plus other markets on throughout the highlands at different times.

This property is ideal for one or more families with children. It sleeps up to 14, including 3 large bedrooms with Queen Beds, 1 large bedroom with 1 Bunk bed and 2 single beds (sleeps 4) and 1 bedroom with 1 Bunk bed (sleeps 2). The 2 additional rollaway beds fit into any room to suit you.

Fees quoted are for up to 10 guests. Additional guests are quoted as $50 per adult and $20 per child.

  • "We had a large group of adults and a couple of toddlers and stayed for a weekend. We all had a brilliant time away and it was very hard to leave. The living areas were great with plenty of space for people to hang about in. The kids loved the slide and running through the leaves in the backyard and the big kids (adults) loved the games room. We'd recommend this to our friends and would definitely want to stay at Somerton again."

  • "We absolutely LOVED Somerton, the pictures are an exact if not more of a reflection of just how beautiful Somerton is. We went for my brothers wedding and it was so perfect for our family photos. The rooms are massive, bedding is so comfortable. You don't need to bring anything, not even toys, I have 2 young boys and there was so many toys and things for them to do. The house was spotless both inside and outside. Somerton allows you to feel like royalty. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and will DEFINATLEY be visiting again. Thank you to Simon and Karen."

  • "We recently stayed at Somerton in Bowral for a get together with some friends from sydney for some fine food and relaxation. The house was perfect for at least two families, and our children loved the enchanting garden, loads of space and were entirely safe due to the lockable front gate. The house is immaculately presented, with every comfort you could wish for. Very modern kitchen and bathrooms, and comfy beds with lovely new linen, made it a treat to stay there. The open fire was very cosy in the chilly evenings, and during the day a lovely terrace overlooking the lush gardens was a great place to sit in the sun. Simon and Karen the owners were so helpful and friendly. We would thoroughly recommend it."

We found it perfect for our Family reunion/getogether as we three couples & the 4 young grandchildren , felt so "at home" while each feeling they had their own "space" for privacy with their "little ones". The young children loved the outdoors & the space to play their games in a safe enviroment. The young Mums & Dads, whilst keeping s close eye on their activities, were relaxed.   • "Our family had a very relaxing stay at Somerton. It is a lovely home for a family holiday. The location is great, close to all of the lovely parts of the Southern Highlands. The house is huge, with everything you need. It has great facilities for playtime with the kids. We will need to stay for a longer visit next time to best enjoy the home and the surrounding area. "

Somerton's glorious grounds, generous bedding, fireplace and heating, and wonderfully stocked kitchen completed the experience. Somerton was a real home away from home, a place you only read about in fairy tales, and dream about. The hospitality shown by the Somerton's was paralleled to what you would expect from your own mum and dad. Thank you for providng us your home - a truly devine and memorable establishment that will be I will be sure to tell all my other friends and family. Thank you for making possible - what we thought the impossible - a phenomenal family experience with 6 adults and 5 children - something and somewhere for everyone. We hope to visit sometime again."

The kids loved the trampoline, swings and slides. The table tennis table was a hit for young and old! The house was bright and spacious, well appointed and perfect for our two families.
