The Lighthouse is a fully equipped, quiet, modern & spacious townhouse located in Northcote - a leafy suburb just a few kilometres north east of the CBD.
It is the perfect base from which to explore Melbourne with family or friends. You can be in the city in less than 10 minutes - visit the galleries, museum, parks & gardens, cafe's, zoo, aquarium, scienceworks, or catch a game at the MCG & tennis centre - all are easily accessible on public transport.
Literally just around the corner you will find a great cafe, nursery, milk bar, organic green grocer, hairdresser, gift shop, and excellent fish and chips.
The historic Fairfield and Studley Park boathouses are just a short walk from the house - pack a picnic, hire a row boat and explore the beautiful Yarra river, or kick back and watch the world go by with a good coffee.
Take advantage of the close proximity to bike trails along the river that take you into the city past the Collingwood Childrens Farm, and Abbotsford Convent (both have wonderful cafe's).
Nightlife abounds in cosmopolitan High St, Northcote where you will find shops, bars and restaurants that rival some of the best Melbourne streets. Fairfield village - also just a short stroll from the house - has a wonderful community atmosphere and everything you would expect from a lovely little inner city suburb.
The nearby Batman, Johnson, and All Nations parks have great picnic and bbq facilities, skating facilities, basketball courts amongst spectacular old trees, indigenous plants and ponds.

Accomodation for up to 6 guests in two large bedrooms, plus one single bedroom in an architecturally designed modern townhouse that has been tastefully furnished.
It boasts a well equipped kitchen and open plan dining/lounge area with polished floor boards, floor to ceiling windows out to a sizeable private entertaining terrace with views over the tree lined streetscape - the perfect spot for a bbq or lazy Sunday breakfast!
Lovely bathroom with the shower over a deep Japanese style bath. The house also contains 2 separate toilets, reverse cycle heating/cooling, leather lounges, and a large plasma TV.
The kitchen cupboard is stocked with all the basics - tea, coffee, sugar, oil, balsamic vinegar, salt & pepper...along with a complimentary bottle of wine.
There is also a small selection of reading material, magazines, a CD and DVD player.
Walking to:
Historic Fairfield or Studley Park boathouses - to play in a row boat.
High St Northcote - an eclectic mix of shops and fantastic restaurants. Meine Liebe is a culinary experience not to be missed (scrumptious pizza).
Fairfield Bowling Club - they host 'barefoot bowls' on a Friday evening after 5pm. Have a cheap drink and some fun with Fritz (the friendly gentle giant) who provides free expert coaching for anyone that walks through the door.
The nearby train station and heading into town. Visit the MCG or Tennis Centre for a game, or explore Melbourne's galleries, lanes, shops, markets and restaurants. Queen Victoria Market is paradise for a foodie.
Abbotsford Convent Bakery - to learn how to bake bread in big wood-fired ovens.
Collingwood Children's Farm - to get up close and personal with some friendly farm animals, or buy some fresh organic produce from the Farmers Market.
Northcote Social Club, the Wesley Anne and the Lomond Hotel - all play host to some of Melbourne's best live music, bands, and artists.
The local tennis courts or golf courses - for an enjoyable hit out.
The Peacock or Grandview Hotels - to quench your thirst or get a hearty counter meal.
The gym and local pool - indoor & outdoor (open all year)- for a bit of exercise.
Driving to:
The Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges for a potter through gorgeous villages, antique shops, galleries, and a relaxing lunch at one of Australia's best wineries - less than an hour from the house.
The Great Ocean Rd for a swim, surf or wander along a magnificent coastline - about 1.5 hours from the house.
Werribee Open Range Zoo to marvel at the historic mansion and African animals roaming free - less than an hour from the house.
Phillip Island to see the gorgeous little Fairy Penguins - around an hour from the house.
