Set on 100 acres of rainforest and lush green valleys of the Byron Bay hinterland, Coorabella is one of the most magical properties you will ever experience.

Giant fig trees, bush walks, a natural waterhole perfect for swimming and exploring … this is the type of place which unravels itself to you, inviting you to discover it for yourself.

A 125 year old Queenslander, Coorabella has been lovingly restored by its owner, designer Giovanni D’Ercole, to maximize the sense of space and heighten the natural theatre and aesthetic of the house.

Having been showcased in a huge array of international and Australian glossy magazines including Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Madison, Home Beautiful and Country Style, Coorabella is truly an incredible one-of-a-kind designer retreat.

FEATURES

With 3 generously sized bedrooms and 3 bathrooms - along with a separate library wing, which can also be used as extra staff quarters for those with a full-time nanny/personal assistant - Coorabella sleeps up to 6 guests comfortably.

The Master Bedroom Suite features a romantic four-poster bed draped in a white cotton canopy. The other two bedrooms each have their own dedicated bathroom also.

All rooms throughout the house, including each of the bedrooms, feature soothing views of the property and surrounding countryside.

Huge wraparound verandahs are perfect for catching the sunset each evening as deep oranges, pinks and reds saturate the whole sky over the valley.

Large sliding glass doors open up onto the verandah from both the kitchen and dining rooms, expanding the sense of space and creating an easy flow for entertaining both indoors and out.

Soaring ceilings with the original pressed-tin finishes still in place, textured leadlight window panels and a claw-footed bath offer a glimpse of the house’s rich history, while newer touches such as central air conditioning and heating make ensure guests are completely comfortable throughout the year.

The house is filled with beautiful old-world antiques and special hand-picked pieces from the owner’s travels around the world, a reflection of the covetable personal style that he is renowned for.

Perfectly situated to capture the sunset views each day, the dramatically set swimming pool overlooks the valley and is nestled within a landscaped garden of scented gardenias and jasmine.

A huge, whimsical hand-crafted tipi is one of the most unique recent additions to the property. Featuring timber floorboards, the tipi can be used for a variety of activities including meditation, yoga/pilates, group work, classes or just relaxing the day away ….


SPECIAL EVENTS, CELEBRATIONS AND WEDDINGS -

We are only able to consider allowing special events and family celebrations such as weddings, very occasionally at Coorabella.

We keep it this way to ensure that the incredibly magical and detail-oriented nature of the property is cherished and nurtured, making it even more exclusive and special for those who do have the pleasure and privilege of being married at this wonderfully unique property.

Sepcial events such as weddings are subject to special booking conditions and incur an additional day hire charge - depending on the number of guests and individual requirements - for the use of the property as a wedding venue.

AVAILABILITY

Coorabella is only available for guest accommodation at selected times of the year, when the owner is either overseas or not in residence.

We have also just opened a sister property to Coorabella, THE RIVER HOUSE, which is situated very nearby and shares the same beautiful rainforest walks.

While completely different in style, the River House has a wonderfully unique and raw natural beauty. Perhaps you might love it as much as we do ...

The River House can be booked through Stayz and is available year round for guest accommodation, so we encourage you to explore the possibility of a stay there and let it delight you.

LOCATION

Situated in the lush hinterland of Byron Bay, Coorabella is only a 15 minute drive to the main town and beaches.

Other nearby towns include the picturesque Bangalow, which is less than 10 minutes away, and the little fishing village of Brunwick Heads, just 5 minutes further down the road.

The small but colourful community of Mullumbimby is also close by, just an 8 minute drive through meandering country roads. Home to the delicious Milk & Honey woodfired pizzas – one of our best kept local secrets.

Nearest airports are;

DOMESTIC: Ballina – an easy 30 minute drive

INTERNATIONAL/DOMESTIC: Coolangatta (Gold Coast) – approximately 45 minutes, with regular flights arriving almost hourly
