THE BARRINGTON TOPS NATIONAL PARK:- This rugged park is full of contrasts. Carved out of an ancient volcano, it rises from near sea level to over 1500m. In the lower valleys, you\'ll find World Heritage-listed subtropical rainforests. Up on the plateau, there is subalpine woodland which can have snow in winter.

Most of the area is declared wilderness, and it\'s a well-known destination for bushwalkers. But the park is accessible even to those with limited mobility. Its excellent track network extends from short, easy walks to steep overnight treks.

The park\'s varied environments are home to a wide range of plants and animals, and it protects more than 50 rare or threatened species. In this area, many northern and southern plants meet the limit of their range.

Enjoy an escorted drive with the host's vehicle into the forests. See the pristine surrounds on a walk amongs trees that are hundreds of years old. Learn a little about the flora that has made The Barrington Tops famous & awarded World Heritage status. This is a approx 4 hour journey and includes a candle lit dinner for two later in your cabin by a well qualified chef. This service must be booked well in advance. Cost is $295 for 2 persons. Good morning Herman & Val,

Thank you very much for your hospitality and the accommodation was wonderful, better than we could have hoped for, we certainly had a great weekend and we would love to stay again. We will also be making sure to tell our friends and family about your place and what a great time we had.

Regarding the BBQ, we did roast a boneless chicken and some veg in there on Saturday night, it was beautiful.
Thanks again for a lovely stay and we hope to see you again soon.

Regards,

Simon Duffie

Very comfortable accomodation for 2 and private we were very impressed. Val and Herman were very nice and had the morning papers on the steps for us in the morning very nice touch. • "We had a fantastic few days away. We were told that Dungog was flooded but fortunately decided to chance the trip. On arrival we were greeted by Val (owner). After that we lit the fire and had a few visits from the possums. They must have heard how yummy Vals bread was. My Husband and I would highly reccomend BlueGum no matter how far away you live it feels like you are the only ones for 1000 klms. We will definately return as we only live half an hour down the road. THANKYOU HERMAN & VAL"

  • "Dear Herman & Val, Thank you ever so much for our lovely little cabin - we relaxed and unwound beautifully. The king parrots were a beautiful surprise one morning, and the nightly possum antics had us in stitches - especially when one very naughty possum ran away with a WHOLE carrot and happily munched it in front of us!! Also loved the paddymelons & wallabies... What a beautiful area - and we highly reccommend ChillBillies for dinner and lunch! Smiles, Nadine Rendall "
