Skenes Creek is an idyllic retreat, located on Great Ocean Road 6km from Apollo Bay & approximately 40km from Lorne. Here, just above the junction of Skenes Creek Road and Old Coach Road you will find OCEAN RETREAT.
This self contained two bedroom Cottage which can accommodate 6 people has all the comforts of home, providing one Queen Size bed, two bunks (4 beds) and each room with views of the ocean.
Imagine having breakfast looking out to the ocean and listening to the sound of the sea, spending the day at the beach or at one of the surrounding attractions, and in the evening enjoy the BBQ on the deck, a walk along the beach, and a glass of wine while relaxing on the couch - what a perfect way to end the day.
Apollo Bay is only five minutes away by car; giving easy access to large variety of shops and restaurants to treat yourself to a meal, browse the shops or just have a walk around the town.
OCEAN RETREAT is just a 50 metre stroll away from the beach, with magnificent views across the Great Ocean Road and is a perfect location to relax and enjoy an affordable holiday or short break.
Things to Do and See
The beach at Skenes Creek is excellent for swimming, surfing and has great fishing in the estuary and creek or off the shore and rocks. Young children can play and explore in the wonderful rock pools or paddle or swim in the sheltered quiet river ponds at the entrance to the creek. You can walk on the beach all the way to Apollo Bay and there are many other walking paths available in the local area. Skenes Creek is ideal for both couples and families and is one of the gateways to the Great Ocean Road.

We enjoyed a four night family holiday at The Ocean Retreat Cottage over Easter. Ideal location from which to base your Great Ocean Road sightseeing trip. Well equipped, neat and tidy home. The view of the ocean was breathtaking. Peter was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend!

"Absolutely remarkable. Perhaps the best value place we've ever stayed. The location is PERFECT the house is 50m from the beach. Close to everything you need, and far enough to enjoy the tranquility of the region. The house is superb, given the rates. Everything you could ask for, and more. Peter and Dominica has really go that extra mile to make visitors feel at home. Peter was very friendly, helpful with the booking and looking after us in providing all information needed during our stay. An absolute pleasure to deal with them. Absolutely recommended."

We had 3 nights at this beautiful location. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with the best views of the ocean night and day, the beach was only 50 metres away! The Ocean Retreat cottage is in an ideal location to access everything! Would definetely come back any time of the year!

We were so impressed to pull off the Great Ocean Road and stay at Ocean Retreat. The view was wonderful. The cottage was well appointed. We liked the fact that we were out of town but close enough to many interesting sights. Peter was very prompt and helpful in answering my questions prior to arrival. Wow! The view is the first thing you notice! This cabin is comfortable, clean, has everything you need and is so close to Apollo Bay for all your necessities. The serenity is wonderful. The proximity to the Otways is sensational.
The owners are very quick to respond to all enquiries and are so very easy to deal with. I could see myself living there indefinitely! Would love to experience all the seasons there!!!

Ocean Retreat is a great property suitable for families and couples within easy reach of the beautiful Ottways,and it is just two minutes to the beach.We had a three day stay and it poured with rain for the whole time but the cottage is so cosy that we just put the kettle on curled up in the cosy chairs and recharged our batteries.This property is very good value with everything you need Peter & Domenica the owners made sure that the booking went nice and smoothly with plenty of imformation on the cottage & surrounding area we certainly recommend this property.Alan & Barbara Warrrnambool

We have been holidaying on the GOR for many years now and for us, this was the best location and best value accommodation we have found. It's a gorgeous little place with everything a family needs for a great time. So close to the beach that you can hear the roar of the waves the whole time, and close enough to Apollo Bay that you can duck in and get whatever you need at a moment's notice. Would recommend this peaceful, easy getaway to anyone. Great location and views. The kids had a ball exploring the rock pools and attacking the waves with their boogie/surf boards.

Great value for money given the location and sleeping quarters. The bed was actually quite comfortable! We could hear the waves from bed and at every other time of the day which is exactly what we were after and the neighbours are at arms length!

Great place to stay. Great location. Well set up unit at a reasonable price. Walk in with your food and linen and there is everything you need for a great stay. Took three of the grandkids and they loved it. Especially the beach. You couldn't hear the traffic over the sound of the waves. A place I can recommend.

My partner and I recently stayed at Ocean Retreat in Skenes Creek and had a great time.
The location was ideal, close to all conveniences with Apollo Bay five minutes away, but far enough
away to escape the noise and crowds. The unit was very clean and comfortable. The hosts, Peter and Domenica couldn���t do enough for us. We would recommend Ocean Retreat to anyone and will definitely stay there again ourselves. Thanks Peter and Domenica.

Great location, just close enough to Apollo Bay to be able to obtain necessities, but far enough away to be peaceful and away from the throngs during busy holiday time! Fantastic walks along the beach; the kids even braved the water!
