Description

We offer what may be the ultimate in accommodation with an artistic outlook. Our town house, re-built in 2011, is a completely re-worked 1890 end terrace. The architect has made the most of abundant natural light and ventilation. Our soaring atrium rises 30 feet and showcases some great contemporary Australian art.
Setting the scene for your exploration of Newtown's galleries, shops, music venues, theatres, & restaurants (and exclusively for the enjoyment of guests), is a retrospective by Australian artist Tony Twigg.
(In conjunction with Tony's SLOT gallery, we also host the DIP 24/7 Street Art project in our old Shopfront window.)
After a big day out you may want to cosy up in front of our burning log gas fire, and further research the next day's destinations, or Skype home, on our 42" internet connected LCD TV's. Each room in your unit has built in stereo ceiling speakers, with their own volume controls and the ability to switch between different sound sources; (EG MP3 for the bedroom and radio for the Den).

Key Aspects of our Layout

Your unit enjoys its own separate entrance, and MIFARE card security. The bedroom features a King size bed, or 2 X extra length single beds. Your unit has a separate den with Double sofa bed, suitable for two accompanying children. Our family has special expertise in child care and offers in-house baby sitting services at very reasonable rates for our guests.
The full sized kitchen has a cooktop, microwave, oven, complete with a 4 place dining setting.
There are adjoining laundry facilities with laundry tub and combined front loading washing machine/dryer.
Your ensuite bathroom features twin head and twin control showers, stone top vanities and heated towel rails.
Your kitchen opens onto our fully grassed courtyard where you will find an authentic Italian woodfired oven and mains connected natural gas barbecue.
Each evening juices, milk, cereals, bacon and eggs will be delivered to your unit so that you can enjoy preparing your own breakfast the following morning at whatever time of day suits you best.
Newtown has a buzz like no other suburb in Sydney. Our street may bring you the music of young children at play in the primary school opposite, or the singing of worshippers in the Church just over the road, who coexist with rock bands that hire their church hall for rehearsals, as well as the classical musicians practising in their home just a couple of doors away.

Nearby Attractions

Our town house boasts a premium inner-west position: we are a 15-minute taxi ride from the airport, but suffer virtually no aircraft noise. Walk 350m to the West, on King St, & you'll find renowned music venue, the Vanguard, funky cafe Urban Bytes, Thai Times, offering $6:50 lunches, or Rubyo's restaurant offering silver service and white linen.
The B & B operator is an expert board rider and can offer advice, assistance & surf tours to any guests interested in Sydney's beaches.

  • "An outstanding quality property in a fantastic central & quiet location. The owner is most helpful and accommodating and clearly has thought of every need for guests who are after luxury, charm, privacy and comfort. Well equipped, roomy and first class. We will stay again next time we are in Sydney. Fantastic breakfast also, thanks Lloyd!"

  • "Stayed at this apartment on 3 different occasions during our holiday in Aus over xmas & nw year 2012. What a beautiful place it was. Impeccably clean, huge bed, double shower, loads of hot water and every possible utensil you could ever want or need. Wonderful garden with BBq & pizza oven. Could happily sell up in the uk and live here. If you stay in Newtown, do yourself a favour and stay here, you will seriously have no regrets. The web site does really not do it justice, marvellous accommodation. Lloyd was such a lovely man and stocked our fridge with the most enormous breakfasts and he was always on call if needed. In a quiet area but only 5mins away from shops, bars and every sort of restaurant you could think of. One of the best places we have ever stayed and can't wait to return. "

  • "Great house in a great location. Highly recommend this b&b!!"

  • "I was a bit worried I'd find this location too noisy, but as I had been reassured, it's actually a reasonably quiet spot. Easy walking access to Macdonaldtown and Redfern railway stations, as well as a multitude of restaurants on King Street. I was extremely comfortable on the king size bed, and very happy I didn't need to share a toilet with my husband in the mornings (there are 2). Will be quite happy to stay there again (provided I can get it - think the word has got out :)"
    Cathy, November 2011

  • "A wonderful homely venue for our stay in Sydney. A quiet, yet central location handy to King Street - with public transport easily accessed for visits to other paces. Our host Llyod was a true Gentleman who cared for our every need. Our visit to Sydney was definitely enhanced by staying at B & B Golden Grove. We will certainly stay there again! "

  • "When we opened the door to Golden Grove BnB we audibly gasped! It is a place that more than pleases both aesthetically and functionally. Lloyd and Robyn couldn't have been more friendly, helpful or responsive to our needs and exceeded our expectations on every level. For our small family of 2 adults and 1 small child we couldn't have picked better. It's a funky pad in a brilliant location and we would highly recommend it to our friends. (And the breakfasts were amazing!!!) Great for those who like to be comfy yet close to the action."
    Lisa and Richard, August 2011
