Frequently asked questions

Where should I stay when visiting Gertrude Saddle?
When planning a stay near Gertrude Saddle, several areas offer excellent holiday rental options. The nearby village of Te Anau serves as a primary gateway to Fiordland National Park and is a popular base for exploring the region. Properties in Te Anau provide a range of holiday homes and apartments, many with views of Lake Te Anau and easy access to local amenities and tour operators.

For those seeking to be closer to the heart of the national park, Milford Sound offers a unique opportunity for a stay. While lodging options are more limited, properties here provide unparalleled access to the natural beauty of Milford Sound and are a short drive from Gertrude Saddle. These rentals are ideal for guests wishing to maximise their time enjoying the dramatic landscapes and outdoor activities.

Another consideration is the smaller community of Manapouri, situated a little further from Gertrude Saddle but still within convenient driving distance. Manapouri offers a quieter alternative to Te Anau, with holiday homes providing a peaceful base, often with lake access and a relaxed pace.
