Wategos Beach

Wategos Beach sits below Cape Byron and is one of the prettiest beaches in the area. With beautiful beach houses perched above the sand, Wategos remains one of the most desirable strips in Byron Bay. The north facing beach is ideal for swimming and sunbathing, while a scenic walkway leads to the sand at Little Wategos Beach. Long boarders take to the gentle swell which rolls onto the shore and picnickers set up for the day along the beachfront reserve.

Main Beach

In the centre of town, Main Beach is a north-facing sweep of sand that is one of the first stops for many visitors to Byron Bay. Beginning from the end of Jonson Street, Main Beach runs east to Clarkes Beach and attracts large numbers of swimmers and sunbathers. At the eastern edge of the beach is The Pass, a famous surf break known the world over.

Situated just to the west of the town’s centre, Belongil Beach is an attractive combination of white sand and sparkling blue water that offers plenty of space for swimming, sunbathing and beachcombing. Beachfront properties, including many holiday rentals, are situated moments away from the water.

Tallow Beach

Running from Cape Byron to Broken Head, Tallow Beach is a picturesque ocean beach known for its clean surf breaks. Fringed by Arakawal National Park, Tallow Beach is popular with swimmers, surfers and body boarders. Walkers, sunbathers and beachcombers are also drawn to Tallow and dot the long sandy foreshore. The village of Suffolk Park is located at the southern end of Tallow Beach and makes a great base for a Byron Bay holiday, offering an excellent selection of holiday rental accommodation.
